This trip was extrimely unsafe, car was in terrible condition, driver hit and ran over a cow!
1/5

Our experience with Serengeti Green Tanzania company was, unfortunately, extremely disappointing and unsafe.
The organization and the technical condition of the vehicle made the trip stressful and dangerous.

Day 1
After meeting at the airport, we waited half an hour for the car.
The vehicle was in terrible condition: parts rattling, the glove box falling off, clearly no maintenance had been done.
Already at the first stop the driver went to repair it, and after lunch we had to wait another hour.
Later at the Serengeti checkpoint the car needed repair again – we waited for 2 hours outside with our child.
In the evening the driver was speeding with the faulty, rattling car in darkness and mud – it was very frightening.
In the grand scheme of things this is a minor detail, but the promised binoculars were not provided in the vehicle.

Day 2
We waited more than an hour for the permit processing, which should have been arranged in advance.
In the afternoon the car once again started jerking and rattling.
Instead of observing wildlife we rushed to a mechanic, losing another hour.

Day 3
We drove through thick fog on a mountain road in the same unsafe car.
Shockingly, the driver hit and ran over a cow from a herd crossing the road under the supervision of a herder — and did not stop. The guide had mentioned brake problems the day before, which may have been the reason.
The vehicle was moving in jerks, putting us and others in danger.
The car barely made it to Ngorongoro, then broke down completely.
We spent 3 hours waiting for a replacement at a roadside shop, watching other tourists pass by happily.
In the end we paid a local driver $140 ourselves to reach the airport on time.

This trip was unsafe and left us with the clear impression that the company values saving money over the safety of clients and animals. The vehicle was not roadworthy, and the organization responded inadequately to repeated breakdowns. We believe that using Serengeti Green Tanzania is dangerous and intend to file a complaint with the Ministry of Tourism of Tanzania.
