This operator steals your money. Never use it!

I bought a 12 days package in Kenya for 2090 dollars. I paid deposit payment 663 dollars and I got a handwritten receipt. After that all my contacts were blocked out. Five days before the start of the trip, they wrote that, for economical reasons, they cannot organize the trip. They promised to return the deposit payment and, of course, they didn't do it! Never use this operator!!!

Because I had already booked my flights and hotels I searched an other operatot. I had some luck to find one.

Fraudulent Company
1/5

I booked a safari with Dosasha for September, but suddenly I can’t get in touch with them anymore. I found out that they have recently scammed many people out of their deposits and balances, then ran away, and their license has even been revoked by the TRA. I hope everyone will stay alert and not fall for this scam. I will report to the police to recover my deposit.

They stole our money
1/5

5 pax, paid deposit 50% on mid Aug, arrived on 6th Sept and paid the remaining half in the office.

2 days no issue in Masai Mara, though there was a change of lodge (which they claimed their staff booked wrongly, but it's an "upgrade").
Highly suspect they book last minute.

Then 3rd day no accommodation was booked at the discussed Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge when we arrived at the lodge in the evening.
Driver claimed he got the funds for the park fees at 5pm then no reply from the operator regarding accommodation booking voucher since.

unreachable via phone as well.

Asked the lodge staff to check the remaining of the accom, no bookings were made under their name or our names.

Went to Naivasha Tourist Police Unit to get an advise but he said to go to Dosasha's Nairobi office to claim refund.

Lilian is nowhere to be seen in the office, only Alfa.
Another guy you should be aware of.

TLDR, we involved embassy, TPU HQ, and diplomatic police in Kenya.
They still haven't refund us.
It's a whooping USD 13500 for 5 of us.

Do not go with this operator.
Whichever staff name they claim they are, it's the same person.

Reddit has a year old post that someone got scammed by the same person as well.

They'll likely create another agency name and do the same thing all over again.

I've already have at least 5-6 groups of people around my travelling date that got scammed or last minute cancelled Tanzania part. They thought we can't get them cause we're foreigners.

If you're a victim, make it big.
Involve whoever you think can, only they will take action.

Someone emailed safaribooking.com and they claimed they'll take this operator off the list in the site.

I see it's still all and well here.

They are scammers! Stay away from them

I paid an advance of 257USD back in April for an3 days safari to Masai Mara in September. In the 3rd week of August, he sents me a msg saying he has to cancel the safari and he will initiate the refund.

And then I have tried to text him, no more responses. I had to pay another operator to do my safari, but these never got back

Extremely Disappointed – Poor Communication, Unprofessional Conduct, and Lack of Accountability
1/5

The overall experience was overshadowed by some issues that should never happen on a trip of this nature.

Unprofessional and Rude Driver: One of the most disturbing incidents happened during our transfer from Nakuru to Amboseli. The driver(Peter) didn't make any stops after 4hour of driving during a 6~8-hour journey. I finally requested to have a stop or toilet break because I personally needed to use the toilet due to a sensitive stomach condition, and instead of understanding, the driver mocked me, saying I wasn’t in "as good condition" as him. This kind of behavior is not only unprofessional but also deeply insensitive. People may have medical conditions that require regular restroom breaks – this is not something to joke about. (Attached is the transport that this driver driving.)
That said, I want to give full credit to one of the drivers, WeekCliff (or a name similar to that), who took us from Nairobi to Maasai Mara and then to Nakuru. He was incredibly professional, friendly, and helpful throughout. His effort and attitude truly stood out and made part of the journey enjoyable.

Irresponsibility Toward Other Travelers: A fellow traveler on our tour had arranged a follow-up trip to Tanzania through this same company. Not only did they stop responding to him after taking payment, but when he arrived in Tanzania, there was no driver waiting, no coordination, and worse – the hotel informed him that the company hadn't paid them or possibly even owed them money. This left him extremely stressed and stranded in a foreign country.

These are not minor oversights – they reflect a lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic respect for customers. I strongly advise others to think twice before booking with this company. A safari is meant to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but in our case, it was filled with stress and disappointment because of how poorly things were managed.

this tourist agent is not to be trusted
1/5

i booked a 14days tour with Dosasha, this cost me nearly 5000USD, and the tour start very badly, as i and other 2 family can not have our land cruiser to kick off the tour from the first day, just because of Dosasha fail to pay the driver. they indeed manage to find car to take us to Masai Mara, but we have been told by the hotel that Dosasha have not paid them also. when we transport from Masai Mara to Nakuru, Dosasha send us a driver who is not qualified to drive us with a car which has a damaged car brake. and the driver can not drive safely with damage windscreen wiper. he also has not been paid by Dosasha, so he can not have enough diesel, we have to pay the fuel for him. he also do not know the road to Nakuru, and nearly have accident on the road because of the terrible road condition. when we finally finish the terrify journey to Nakuru, Dosasha also fail to pay the national park fee, so we can not enter and go to our hotel, we have been stranded in front of the national park gate for 3hours. when we finally have the agreement with the entrance staff we will pay the national park fee tomorrow when the POS machine can be used, and go to check in the hotel, we have been told Dosasha fail to pay them, and we have to pay by ourself to check out. after all of these drama, we give up with Dosasha, and ask for refund. they also promise to refund. but again, they fail to follow the promise to refund for 4times up to now, and no refund recieved.

Dishonest company
1/5

I booked with Dosasha as they seem a very passionate and reliable team with good reviews in Safaribookings.

However, they deceived me. I got a Safari booked for September 25th. After paying the $1000 deposit the problems started, with them first not being able to fulfill the hotel orders as promised (Likely no hotel was booked by then)

The worst is that they sent a message 1 month before my trip telling me they are cancelling the tour and that they will refund, however no money is sent or coordinated at all, and they keep saying they will process the refund without any actual refund made.

Simply this company seems to have stolen from me. Be careful.

They cancelled and kept my deposit!!
1/5

They cancelled my 5-day safari a week before it was about planned to start. They still haven't refunded my 30% deposit ($500 USD) and no longer reply to my emails. They told me they have "financial and operational challenges" and have to cancel the safari. That email said they would refund me my deposit, so I gave my details, but they have ignored me since then. If they offer tours in the future, I would NOT recommend them as they could do the same to others in future!!

We felt lied to, NOT Acceptable
1/5

From our experience, I recommend you don't book with this company.

They played tricks with us and stole your money.

I had a very similar experience like Craig Anthony.

I booked a 6-day safari(from 23rd to 28th Aug.) for my wife and me. I booked Mara Sopa Lodge for two days, Lake Nakuru for one day and Kibo Amboseli Camp for two days. The total amount is US$3,800. Full payment was paid on the first day of safari at their Nairobi office. And they confirmed the hotel reservation.

However, they changed Mara Sopa lodge to Jambo, Kibo Amboseli to Sentrim without any notice or discussion. These two places are not good as the confirmed bookings.

This is not the worst part. On 28th Aug, when I was supposed to leave for Nairobi airport from Centrim Amboseli, I received a text from Dosasha. saying:
“Hello Connor Liu,
I hope you had a nice time on the safari and that you enjoyed to the fullest.
We had a problem in the bank deposit to the hotel and the bank kept telling us to wait that it would reflect but it seems it might be a problem.
We were requesting if you will be kind enough to help us clear with the hotel in the morning and then we will refund you once you get to Nairobi so that the hotel doesn't hold you there.”

The total hotel cost is US$440. After receiving the message, the owner of Dosasha never took calls or replied message from me, the hotel or the jeep driver. Only a staff called Mike from Dosasha was assessible. And he claimed that he can't reach his boss, either. Finally, Mike paid US$284 to the hotel. I had no choice but to pay the rest of US$156 because the hotel won't let me go until payment is paid.

Dosasha is the shame of Kenya. I have also sent everything to TRA official email ID. I do hope TRA can withdraw their license.

They don’t return the money.

They canceled the safari that was scheduled with me for next September 17, and they still haven’t refunded my money. I do not recommend using their services.
