Budget safari without feeling like it was budget for even a single minute
Everything was fantastic from start to finish. Elias was always ready to answer one of my thousands of questions.
Pick-up at the hotel was smooth, the drive to the Maasai Mara was enjoyable, and sleeping in the tents felt authentic.
Elias guided us to countless animals (lions, antelopes, buffaloes, elephants, and a phenomenal sunset).
We are a Belgian family of four (2 adults, a 9-year-old daughter, and a 7-year-old son). Even the kids thought it was magical and now understand the true meaning of "hakuna matata"!
This was a budget safari, but you honestly wouldn't have noticed—unless you count the fact that we didn’t have a fridge in the vehicle (but had an extra seat instead), or that we enjoyed lunch on a picnic blanket instead of foldable chairs. :)

8-Day Safari Memories: The Most Reliable Guide Jeff, Who Showed Us the True Wild Beauty
Our 8-day safari journey in Kenya left me with more than just memories of vast wildebeest migrations or lions and cheetahs roaming the savanna. What truly made it unforgettable was our calm and dependable guide—Jeff.
Jeff is 38 years old and the father of four children. He doesn’t talk much, but from day one, he gave off a strong sense of reliability and steadiness. With excellent driving skills and a sharp eye, he knows the behavior of animals and the rhythm of the land like the back of his hand. Throughout the journey, he stayed focused, always observing carefully and choosing the best spots for us to watch and photograph wildlife. No matter the weather, he never complained.
He’s an incredibly smooth driver. Even with long, bumpy drives and kids in the car, we always felt completely safe—and could even nap in peace during the ride.
One of the most unforgettable moments was when we were about to leave the Maasai Mara National Reserve, just approaching the gate. Suddenly, Jeff heard a cheetah sighting come through the radio. Before we even had time to react, he hit the gas and sped back into the park—making a sharp U-turn and racing deep into the reserve toward where a leopard had reportedly appeared. It was in that moment I realized Jeff wasn’t just checking off boxes—he genuinely wanted us to witness the most extraordinary and complete side of African wildlife.
During the days we spent waiting by the Mara River to see the wildebeest crossing, Jeff consistently picked the best spots. He could tell where the herds would gather and hesitate before crossing, and he’d position us perfectly to capture the action. While other guides were still circling around, Jeff had already locked in the ideal view. More than once, he even ignored park rangers trying to usher us away—determined to let us see the most breathtaking scenes. Those herds thundering down the riverbank, crocodiles lurking in the water—those images are burned into my memory.
On the last day, we all went quiet in the car. No one wanted to get out. We were reluctant to say goodbye—to the journey, to the wild, and especially to Jeff. He wasn’t just a “driver” or a “translator.” He was our companion, and the bridge between us and nature.
If you’re planning a safari in Kenya, I wholeheartedly recommend Jeff and the JungleRoam team. He may not be the most talkative guide, but he will definitely be the one who brings you face-to-face with the wild miracles of Africa.

Great experience. I had an amazing time exploring the Mara with John.
I would gladly do this again with the same company. My expectations were definitely met.
