Great knowledge about Lalibela
I had one day to spend in Lalibela, and Daniel organised a very interesting tour focusing on the most interesting carved churches. It was amazing! Lalibela has a unique kind of Christianity, and Daniel knows a lot about the history of the place. Also the tour that followed in Afar Region was organised by Dan Lalibela tours. It was remarkable and everything ran as planned. I can strongly recommend Dan Lalibela tours!

Dan is an absolutely outstanding example of a professional guide - trustworthy, informed and caring.
When a trip to Madagascar was suddenly cancelled, I faced the prospect of being ‘stranded’ in Rwanda with no forwarding address. A stressful situation, especially as a mature woman and solo traveler.
Then I came across Daniel Shewalem of Dan Lalibela Tours in Ethiopia (NOT to be confused with Lalibela Ethiopian tours), who proved to be my guardian angel.
Dan helped me to book travel tickets, work through several unforeseen difficulties, and mapped out an absorbing itinerary geared to my interests and budget.
As a guide, he is an excellent communicator, and extremely knowledgeable, especially about the historical and cultural significance of Lalibela and the surrounding area.
Staying here was the perfect introduction to this extraordinary country where the landscapes roam from lush, rolling mountains, to vast expanses of salt plains, desert sands and vistas of volcanic rock that stretch to the horizon. And then there’s the Omo Valley, as richly diverse in its countryside as in its many tribal communities.
Dan ‘s care, kindness and professionalism are exceptional, and this far-reaching itinerary was successful because of his excellent resources: a network of regional guides and drivers who reflected those same ‘above and beyond’ qualities.
I have had many travel experiences in my 50+ years of globe-trotting and without doubt, Dan is a rare find. He created one of my most memorable adventures for which I will be eternally grateful.

3 Days in Lalibela with Dan Lalibela Tours
I had a fantastic 3 days with Daniel in Lalibela. He was extremely responsive by email and arranged everything including accommodation at the Harbe Hotel which was excellent. Despite several changes to my flight schedule and a late arrival he ensured we had plenty of time to see everything I wanted to see at a pace that worked for me. If I wanted to take some extra time somewhere or needed a break he was completely open to making sure I was happy before we moved on. He has an incredible knowledge of the history of the area but allows you to spend time inside the churches in a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere but always nearby in case you have questions for him. If you have any interest in visiting Lalibela then I highly recommend you contact Daniel.

Unforgettable
Daniel and his whole team were amazing. We visited Bahir Dar, Gondar and Lalibela and Daniel organized our domestic flights and accommodation. The hotels where we stayed were wonderful and even though we had trouble with delayed luggage and missed flights Daniel had the patience of a saint and helped us immensely. He uses different guides at the different destinations and they were experts in their different fields. I have to mention Henok at Gondar where I celebrated my 50th birthday who made my birthday the best one ever. I highly recommend Daniel.

Fantastic
Daniel is an excellent guide: attentive, patient, knowledgeable, and very welcoming. Everything went as planned, and he made every effort to give us the most authentic experience possible, taking us to see and witness the services, see the inside of the churches, and even took us to his home to try a delicious local meal prepared by his wife. It was unforgettable! I highly recommend it.

A Trip of a Lifetime
Daniel was an amazing guide! So knowledgeable about Lalibela, the churches, and Ethiopia. He explained everything to me clearly and answered all my questions with such patience. He was also incredibly flexible, making sure I could manage my work obligations in Australia during the trip. Even when I was running late, he remained patient and understanding.
One of the highlights of my visit was having a traditional Ethiopian lunch and coffee at Daniel’s beautiful home with his wonderful family. His wife was incredibly hospitable and an amazing cook, it was such a warm and memorable experience that added so much to the trip.
Thank you so much for a trip of a lifetime. Lalibela is truly glorious, so beautiful and fascinating. The architecture, history, and symbolism of the churches are absolutely incredible.

Traveling to Lalibela was a highlight of my journey. The iconic churches carved into the rock are a testament to Ethiopia's rich Christian heritage and left me in awe. Bahir Dar added to my adventure with its stunning views of Lake Tana and the majestic Blue Nile Falls. Gondar’s castles transported me back in time, showcasing the grandeur of Ethiopia’s past.
One of the most memorable experiences was visiting Abune Yemata, where the breathtaking views and the incredible church perched high on the cliff truly took my breath away. Mekele was equally captivating, with its unique landscapes and welcoming atmosphere.
A special shoutout to Dan, who made my experience even more special by inviting me into his home for a genuine Ethiopian lunch. Dan's hospitality and tireless efforts to ensure my comfort were exceptional. He went above and beyond, adjusting plans to suit my preferences and putting my mind at ease throughout the journey. Places we visited were amazing (and safe!) everything was very punctual with no inconvenience at all and good value for money.
