First Safari in South Africa
5/5

All the information we got before this trip, was perfect. Our guide Neil picked us up at our hotel in Johannesburg, and took care of us all the time, from breakfast to late at night. We hade a great time and have a lot of amazing photos!

Amazing Safari!
5/5

A massive thanks to George at wild wings for arranging the safari and both hotel before and after. It ended up just my wife and i on the 9 seater 4x4 for a week with Simon our guide. I cannot fault Simon on one thing. His food amazing, he is incredible knowledgeable and passionate and was good fun. A week we will never forget!

An amazing experience
5/5

Wild wings are exceptional. Communication with Gavin during the booking stage was excellent with prompt replies to any questions. The safari itself was beyond our expectations. Simon was our guide and it was a privilege to share his passion and knowledge of wildlife. He was no ordinary guide and went the extra miles and hours to ensure we had as many sightings as possible. Our feet literally didn't touch the ground as if Simon had news of a sighting we were on our way - siesta or no siesta - we weren't there to sleep! Simon is also a great cook and entertaining company. When looking for a safari company we think we found a jewel in wildwings and highly recommend them.

An Exceptional Introduction To The African Continent
5/5

I had an absolutely fantastic time with Simon and my tour group both at Kruger National Park as well as en route. The service Simon and Wild Wings Safaris provides is exceptional. Thanks to Madi for recommending and acquiring great pre and post safari accommodation at Premier Hotel. Road transfers to and from Kruger were very comfortable and picturesque. Accommodation in Kruger National Park was also comfortable and very sufficient for our needs. The meals prepared by Simon were more than sufficient and of very good quality. It was a delight to be treated to something as exotic to my palate as ostrich! Simon and Robert are both exceptional guides whose knowledge of the park and the species indigenous therein are second to none. My (first) game viewing experience could not have been better! My main hope for the safari was to see the rhinoceros and I was treated to a rhino sighting almost daily including both white, and the more rare black, rhino. Simon informed me and my travel companions that we were very fortunate to see African wild dogs on only our second day of safari as they are very rare to see, especially in packs as large as that which we saw. Regretfully, the only animal we did not see this time around was the elusive cheetah. So, it looks like I will have to (gladly) return for another game viewing experience in the future.

Wild Wings - You've Exceeded Expectations, AGAIN
5/5

This is my second time calling upon Wild Wings for travel in the South Africa area. I will call on them again and highly recommend them to you. From our hotel arrangements in Joburg to our private guide in Joburg to hotel arrangements in Victoria Falls to lodging in Cape Town to safari with Neil in Kruger to Kambaku River Sand lodge in Timbavati reserve, everything was in order and exceeded expectations. On this my second trip to SA I brought my wife and two other couples, none of whom had been to Africa before. They were impressed the whole way.

Just as an indication of the quality and diligence of Wild Wings - our flight from Vic Falls to Cape Town was delayed and so timing for our transfer to hotel was off - NO, the driver was there and Wild Wings was calling the hotel as we arrived to make certain all was well - its service that results in return business!

I had Neil as a guide 2 years ago and asked for him again. All six of us thoroughly enjoyed him as a guide and companion. He is knowledgeable, humorous and a great cook.

The recommendation to book at Kambaku River Sands was spot on. Intend to return there.

I cannot highly recommend enough the service and value provided by Wild Wings.

Great booking experience
5/5

Madi from Wild Things was great putting a 4-night safari itinerary together for us at the Sabi Sands game reserve. We stayed at two different lodges, which were both equally beautiful and the game viewing was simply amazing. We could not have been happier with the communication, information provided, booking process and organization of transfers etc. We can definitely recommend Wild Safari, we had a super experience!

The Perfect Trip to South Africa
5/5

After deciding to go to South Africa for a family trip, we had no idea exactly what to see and the best way to see it. I'm so happy we stumbled across Wild Wings. We were told they had a good reputation but we had no idea how excellent they really are! They made great recommendations for lodging in Cape Town and all of the transfers worked exactly as planned. Because of our interest in viewing animals, they recommended that we split time between Kruger National Park and a Private Reserve (Klaserie). It was the perfect combination for a safari. Our guides in Kruger took very good care of us and ensured we saw a maximum number of animals. They knew exactly how to navigate the park, find animals, and help us navigate the National Park. They also proved to be very good cooks with a lot of knowledge about the park, animals, and culture. We then transitioned to nThambo at a private reserve which resulted in a very different experience. There were only 7 guests total (4 in our group) which allowed for a very personalized experience. The lodging was unique, rustic, and very comfortable. nThambo took us off-road so that we could follow animals, get up close, and observe the wild life by being right in the bush with them. The walking safari mid-day was also enjoyable as we learned about animal tracks and plants. Finally, the dining with the other guests and guides was the perfect end to the day as we discussed animal sightings and experiences. The honey badger that walked right into camp was a fun surprise! At the end of our trip, Wild Wings arranged a scenic drive that was fantastic. We drove through the mountains with a wonderful guide who was extremely knowledgeable about the area, history, and culture. We wrapped up our trip by visiting Johannesburg and Wild Wings conveniently located us by the airport for easy transport.

I was very impressed with the recommendations, organization, and attention to detail provided by Wild Wings. Everything worked out perfectly. Through their help, our South Africa trip turned out to be more than we could have even imagined!

Amazing safari
5/5

I found out about Wild Wings via the internet when looking at doing a safari when in South africa last year and dropped them a line asking for information.. Madi Nothnagel who is one of the tour consultants there reached out to me to udnerstand what i was looking for and came up with an amazing plan which sounded good on paper so decided to give it a shot. I kept low expectations and it was jsut amazing. Everythign that was promised was over delivered. Whlle naturally on safari there are good days and bad days when you just dont see what you want....on the whole though did see what ever I wanted to. The lodges recommened were great.

I did another one last week and this was at short notice and again Madi and Wild wings delivered.

A point to note about Wild wings and Madi was their prompt response and the fact that they would follow up before and after the safari to see if there were any issues. Any queries were promptly replied to. The booking process over the internet was great and safe.

As such would strongly recommend them.

Unforgettable first time safari experience with Wild Wings
5/5

We were referred to Wild Wings by a friend who went on safari with Simon three years ago and raved about her experience. From the first contact, we were thoroughly impressed by the efficiency with which everything was handled. Clare organized a 5 day Kruger Combo Safari for 3 (myself, husband, and 20 year old daughter). Clare prepared a detailed itinerary based on our time frame and budget. She cheerfully answered my multitude of questions! She also arranged for our hotel in J'burg the night before. Clare gives such personalized service, you feel as if you are her only client.
We stayed 2 nights each in two different areas --Kruger National Park (Skukusa Rest Camp) and Sabi Sand (Elephant Plains Game Lodge). At KNP, the bungalows are basic, but still comfortable. Frank was our guide/ranger, chef, and above-all, a wonderfully entertaining story teller. We learned so much about the flora and fauna, on and off the game drives. There were 5 in our group, and each day Frank made breakfasts and dinners --all at the "campsite." He made sure to prepare vegetarian meals for our daughter. Then after dinner, entertained us with "tales of the bush."
In Kruger, you can't go off road to track animals so we depended on Frank's experience and keen eye. We saw elephants, giraffes, impalas, hippos, wildebeests, warthogs, to name a few. The highlight was the black rhino who came menacingly close to our jeep and looked like he was going to charge! A rare sight indeed.
We then spent two nights at Elephant Plains Game Lodge. The lodge is small, but "luxurious." The meals were plentiful and good, and again, they did their best to accommodate someone who doesn't eat meat! We were able to go off road at the private reserve, and our first morning out, saw the big five! We witnessed lions eating a kill, and "tracked" a leopard carrying his kill into a tree. Without our ranger, Louis, and tracker, Thomas, we would never have seen any of the highlights that made our trip so memorable.
Wild Wings did a fantastic job of organizing the tour: from the transport to the accommodations to the wonderful passionate people they have in their service. If we are fortunate enough to go back, we would definitely choose Wild Wings again.

Fantastic Experience--Wonderful Guide, Delicious Food, Good Accommodations
5/5

Wild Wings Safaris vastly exceeded our expectations--from communication and setup with Madi to the guided experience with Simon. My fiance and I did the 3-day/2-night safari in Kruger National Park with Simon with origin from Johannesburg. Simon was very knowledgeable about wildlife and travel, and has an eagle's eye in spotting wild animals while also driving the open safari vehicle. Further, he knew the routes well and communicated with other guides to head toward an ideal location for spotting big game. He also prepared delicious barbecue-type/bush breakfasts and dinners for our group of 8 people. Everything went very smoothly and we cannot rave about our experience enough.

The only suggestion, unrelated to Wild Wings in particular, is to bring layers as the game drives can get pretty cold in an open vehicle, especially in the morning, and to also bring binoculars which are noted in the itinerary we were provided with ahead of time. Also, we stayed at Skukuza rest camp, and the internet at the restaurant was very poor, but overall, the accommodations were great considering we were staying in the park itself and could wake up and get a jump start on the early morning game drives.
