Meaningful Private Safari with Wildlife, Culture, and Community Impact
5/5

I joined an 8-day private safari from Uganda to Rwanda as a solo traveler, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. Having a dedicated guide throughout the trip made everything smooth and stress-free. His English was clear and easy to understand, and his explanations about wildlife, nature, and local culture were always thoughtful and informative.

The itinerary was very well balanced. I enjoyed game drives, a walking safari in Lake Mburo, chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge, and a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, all of which offered different perspectives on Uganda’s wildlife. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi was the highlight of the trip — seeing mountain gorillas up close in their natural habitat was truly unforgettable.

What made this tour special was that it went beyond wildlife. Cultural experiences with the Batwa people and visits to local communities around Lake Bunyonyi gave me a deeper understanding of how people live in harmony with nature. These moments felt genuine and respectful, not staged.

The lodges and hotels were comfortable, food was consistently good, and long driving days were broken up with scenic stops and local market visits, which made the journey enjoyable.

The tour is operated by **Amatsiko Tours**, an NGO that runs a school for children from disadvantaged communities. Knowing that the tour proceeds support education and community projects made the experience even more meaningful.

I would highly recommend this tour to travelers who are looking for more than just wildlife sightings, and who value responsible tourism and cultural connection.

Best tour company in Uganda, would choose them again without hesitation!!
5/5

We had an amazing experience with Amatsiko Tours and would choose them over any other tour company without question. We were three American travelers on a custom tour, and Alex and Alphonso personally traveled with us the entire time. They have a beautiful mission and knowing that all of their profits support their school in Kibale makes the experience feel even more meaningful. They personally came to pick us up in Bwindi, spent two days touring around Queen Elizabeth National Park and then took us to Entebbe. Please reach out to them if you want a personalized tour even!!

Throughout the trip, they were professional, calm, and very communicative. We ran into a few unavoidable hiccups like road closures, but they explained everything clearly and always let us decide how we wanted to move forward. We never felt rushed or pressured at ANY point.

Their 4x4 safari vehicle with an open roof is absolutely perfect for safari and honestly the best safari car you could imagine. Thanks to their knowledge and timing, we saw lions, a leopard, elephants, hippos, crocodiles, antelope, and topi all in one day at Queen Elizabeth National Park, which felt unreal. They also arranged smooth transport all the way to Entebbe and directly to the airport, making the entire experience easy from start to finish. Their pricing is very fair for the level of care and quality you receive, and it feels good knowing that their tours support the school they founded.

This is a genuine review and we were not asked to write it. We hope to travel with them again someday and would love to visit their school as well, their mission is truly so beautiful!!!

The ones that will make your trip yo Uganda a real and authentic one... And with purpose.

We can say not only they were the best touroperators but also that they have become our friends.
We went with them to experience the truth about the communities in Lake Bunyonyi, also we experienced their project of beekeeping (an example of nature conservation, selfsustainability and helping others) and we visited their school, which is the main activity for what our profits will go, helping needy children learn, eat, feel loved and definitely... Smile.

Do not miss out!
5/5

I had the pleasure today of spending time with Amatsiko tours doing various activities around Lake Bunyoni. We started off going to the Arbiary and meeting the local Bees. I knew that I was going to be in good hands, by watching how founder Alex and his helper Robert treated the Bees. With patience and respect. It was incredible! And the best part was tasting pure, glorious honey from the hive! Then we moved to Chabahinga by boat to hike up to our next stop, The Herbalist. Meeting 75 year old Mzee Gad was like stepping back in time. His knowledge of the local plants is unsurpassed and he shared his knowledge with wit and a twinkle in his eye. We continued our climb to Mrs Anna's homestead where a cooking and craft class awaited us. All meals are prepared on coal fires and consist of mostly starches and vegetables. While our food was cooking we then had time to learn how to make what seemed to be a simple bangle! How they laughed at my clumsy fingers! Luckily Anna's son was deft and helped me finish. We then enjoyed the local food and ended our meal with another spoonful of delicious honey. This has been the highlight of my stay and cannot recommend it highly enough. Both Alex and Robert were super patient with me as I'm not the fittest hiker! Do experience this wonderful outing when you are at Lake Bunyoni, you will not be sorry.

A road less traveled
5/5

My wife and I visited Uganda last year under the stewardship of a fledgling Amatsiko tours. We loved every second of our adventure. Amitsiko is run for the benefit of a school for orphans. Part of your time can be spent with the school and you will come out amazed at what they can do with so little attention. More traditional things like safaris and bird watching can also be done as well as trips to tribal villages. But the school is the heart of this enterprise and using Amatsiko tours you help it keep beating

A great safari experience that surprised us all!!!!
5/5

We were very satisfied with our trip and highly recommend Amatsiko.

Why choose Amatsiko?
They organize your dream trip and at the same time take care of those in need in their communities. They have a big heart and a sense of mission.
"Amatsiko" means "hope" in the local language.

Alex and Alphonse are a great team. The whole trip runs safely and securely. They are very attentive and helpful. They take your wishes into account and can organize a real dream trip!!!

What touched me the most was meeting a family of wild gorillas in the mountains.
Well organized visit to Queen Elizabeth National Park. As promised, we met all the exotic animals in the wild - from buffalo to lions.
Boat trip on beautiful Lake Bunyonyi!!
etc.

Visiting communities. Eating local homemade food in the village, which tasted wonderful. We had the opportunity to see local traditional songs and dances
It was heartwarming to meet the children of Amatsiko School and be a part of their day and see their bright eyes and wonderful smiles. It felt good to contribute to the school's activities and to know that part of the money from the safari trip would go to support children who have lost their parents.

Best experience for us, after 10 different countries visit in Africa. Great dishes with fresh raw materials from garden. African tee is the must to try- with spices. very safe country, in all different aspects including kind and happy people. You can see deep country side without electricity and supper grate villas and stoned ship from space, still staying in air, waiting next trip. Hope this all is available for next visitors.

Exceptional Service & Thoughtfully Tailored Experience
5/5

Even before setting foot in Uganda, Amatsiko Tours has already made this trip feel special. From my very first enquiry, Alphonse and Alex have been nothing short of amazing—responsive, patient, and genuinely invested in making sure my journey is tailored perfectly to my interests and needs.

Planning an adventure like this can feel overwhelming, but they’ve made every step feel effortless. Their deep knowledge of Uganda, combined with their passion for responsible tourism, has given me complete confidence that I’ll not only see the country’s breathtaking landscapes but also connect meaningfully with the local communities. They’ve taken the time to understand what I’m looking for, offering thoughtful recommendations and ensuring every detail is carefully considered.

What truly sets Amatsiko Tours apart is their personal touch. They’re not just booking a trip; they’re creating an experience that feels authentic and deeply meaningful. I already know this will be a journey to remember, and I can’t wait to experience Uganda through their eyes.
