Exceptional from start to finish
From start to finish, Wagatil were exceptional! After finding the estimated quote on safari tours, booking process was incredibly easy. Pretty was very responsive and easy to discuss the different aspects of their tour options.
Martin our guide for our private mid-range 6 day trip from Rwanda to Uganda (including gorillas, chimps, golden monkeys and game drives in Queen Elizabeth national park) was truly exceptional. His knowledge was second to none, he was able to ask any questions we had (even the random ones that had nothing to do with the itinerary) and did so will enthusiasm and a smile. He showed so much passion about all of the different species of wildlife we were tracking and also of his country, we learnt so much from him about both. Martin always went above and beyond for us, from the organisation of the excursions to ensure we had the best outcome he could provide, to running the scheduled tightly to ensure we didn’t miss out on something we would have wanted to see, and from his choices of accommodation which were always strides better than we had expected to be getting, to making stops when we needed at pharmacies, ATMs and food stores for snacks on long drives, he never once made us feel like we were being a pain. This is something we were truly appreciative of, having been on many tours with many guides, and this often not being the experience.
Overall, I can’t recommend Wagatil and specifically Martin enough. We had the trip of a lifetime and one we will never forget! We will be sharing the company’s details with anyone who wishes to come Uganda on a trip and hope to return ourselves soon!

Amazing experience
Uganda is an awesome place. Everyone we met was super friendly. The tour itself was put together so well that everyday was another amazing experience.
Our guide Martin made his job look effortless. He was genuinely invested in making sure we had the best experience but we would barely notice the work he put in. Which made it feel extremely calm and relaxed.
We'd considered a self drive but Martin's experience getting us in the best spots with the wildlife, sorting permits so we flew past queues was some of the best money I've ever spent.
How invested Ugandans and Martin specifically are in their country and preserving the nature within it made our trip something we'll never forget.

Professional, accommodating and seamless
A 6 day Rwanda and Uganda itinerary, lead by our excellent guide and driver, Martin.
Everything was seamless and his intimate knowledge of each destination and activity allowed us to sit back and enjoy every aspect without having to consider any logistics.
Great sense of humor and he didn't use a map for the entire duration. He seemed to know everyone and that did us wonders when getting to the right spots for game drives and successful hikes for the chimps, gorillas and golden monkeys.
Would highly recommend the company to friends and family and especially Martin. We were a group of 3 and felt that everything was really well priced and professionally handled.

Maginific honeymoon and profesional services!
It has been an amazing experience with Pretty and Jackson! Always attentive with immediate support and constant care to make our honeymoon very comfortable and enjoyable! I would definitely repeat with them for the next adventures in Uganda or Rwanda!

This is the best experience ever! And it is not only just because of the safari or the gorilla trekking, but it is mainly people of the kind people like Eddie and Pretty! Eddie our guide has been very helpful, informative, and fun to hang with for 6 days. Always go out of his way to help and very flexible with the plan. Pretty is sooo pretty like her name inside and out. Very kind very responsive and trust her with the accommodation, when it says “midrange” it means “bougie af”. Thank you Eddie and Pretty so being so kind and helpful. I love Uganda and want to come back again because of you guys. Miss you guys already!
Epic Primates Tour
Just finished my solo 8 day Tour with Wagatil Safaris. I had a fantastic experience. My tour started in Entebbe and finished in Kilgali, covering the Chimps, Gorillas, Golden Monkeys with a couple of safaris along the way. Martin my guide was easy to get on with and knowledgeable. Safe driving and happy to accommodate my extra requests. Wagatil are based in Uganda and offer a professional service at a reasonable price. I recommend.

Was a much better trip than expected
The safari with wagatil was much better than expected, the lodges were top notch, the food was great all the way through, saw so so many animals on the various treks, got so close to the gorillas, (steep difficult 3-4 hour hike up rough terrain at high altitude to see the mountain gorillas) Martin the driver guide was fantastic, has extensive knowledge about animals, regions etc, managed to find leopards in Queen Elizabeth park, no other groups saw leopards that day, real nice Toyota Land Cruiser, also Pretty the manager at the office was great, even stopped off at their office to meet her, this trip was much better than expected and a dream come true seeing the gorillas up so close. A big thank you to all at wagatil .

Visit Uganda today !
We are a couple (M, 49; F, 38) who chose to go with Wagatil for its positive reviews and the itinerary. The trip was a dream from start to finish! Roland picked us up at our hotel in Kigali and for eight days he made sure we experienced the best of Uganda. Our itinerary included Golden Monkey trekking, Gorilla trekking, Game Drives in Queen Elizabeth, River cruise and Chimp trekking. The lodges we stayed in were beautiful and romantic. The beds were comfortable, the water was generally hot, and the food was delicious. It was a real privilege to connect with Roland over his passion for Uganda's fauna and flora, learning about the different animals and plant life (lots about banana trees!)
The Ebola outbreak was announced halfway through our trip and Roland and Wagatil took care to keep us up to date about how it might impact our trip (it didn't!). It was clear there is anxiety for Uganda's tourism industry and its workers (tour guides and hotel managers and staff) over what is expected to be many cancellations because of fear of the virus. Each person has to choose for themselves but we always felt very safe since the Uganda tourism circuit is far away from the epicenter of the virus (about 200 miles!).
It's hard to pick just a few stand out moments. Heading back to the lodge after the game drive, Roland stopped the car on the side of the road to point out a rare Leopard sighting -- it was such a chance encounter! At one of our lodges, an elephant sauntered up to the lobby. It was so cool to be so close to wildlife. And when we insisted on stopping by the side of the road for an authentic pork joint / Waragi gin experience, Roland happily obliged.
The Gorilla trekking was awe-inspiring and exhilarating. With the chimps, it was downpouring so much, but it created a unique experience, and we got some great shots and had some interesting interactions.
The whole trip was a dream. It's always a little nerve wracking to choose a tour operator sight unseen, but Wagatil was absolutely wonderful. Highly recommend!

Trip of a lifetime with Wagatil and Jackson, our awesome guide!
After much research for our trip to Africa, we knew gorilla trekking was top of our bucket list. Wagatil Safaris came up as a very reputable company to deal with through our research. Pretty, our Wagatil contact, was very responsive during our planning process and showed that she was very committed to making our trip memorable. Yes, making the initial trip deposit was a bit intimidating sending $$ off to Uganda, but we trusted in Pretty and team, which did not disappoint!
The start of our trip was a 3:00am pickup from Jackson, our awesome guide, from our Kigali hotel and off we went for two days of incredible hospitality from Jackson. Day one was a golden monkey trek, which was a physical challenge, but very worth it!
Wagatil then arranged our accomodation overnight at a beautiful mountain
lodge. We enjoyed a terrific dinner and the great company of Jackson. Day two was our gorilla trek. Jackson ensured that we had the guides and group for the best experience possible and it was an experience we will never forget.
To see the gorillas in their natural habitat and comfortable with us in their space, we will long remember. Bucket list item, this is a once in a lifetime experience and the Wagatil team made it happen for us.
Jackson even came to our rescue to re-pick us up after leaving us in Kigali due to a misrepresentation by a property on booking.com. His commitment to ensuring we are looked after was unwavering. We would highly recommend Jackson and the Wagatil team! We would love to be able to revisit some day and have the experience all over again!!
