Authenticité, beauté et découverte
With Orugano Safaris, I discovered truly unforgettable people, wildlife, and landscapes.
Meeting the Batwa—displaced hunter-gatherers who have lost their ancestral lands yet preserve their traditions and knowledge of forest plants—was an incredible experience; they are an ancient and courageous people. Learning about their culture and history was deeply moving.
Encountering mountain gorillas is breathtaking; you can see numerous families, and watching mothers and their young move about under the watchful, benevolent gaze of the silverbacks is a true privilege. They are a national treasure, and their preservation is a precious legacy for the Ugandan people. Orugano Safaris took me to places and brought me close to animals I could scarcely have imagined. Nature lovers like me will be absolutely delighted.
I hiked along beautiful trails and met welcoming villagers—a sheer joy; I spent time with them and saw their livestock, daily activities, and homes up close. It was fabulous. Along the way, I discovered magnificent lizards and butterflies; one cannot help but be awestruck by the fragile beauty of the surroundings.
The Bwindi Forest is simply magnificent; the scents, the light, the sounds of wildlife, and the sheer scale of the landscape inspire a sense of humility.
And then there are the stunning volcanoes, such as Mgahinga; trekking through a bamboo forest to reach its magnificent summit is an incredible experience—not to mention the wonderful golden monkeys playing and swinging from vine to vine right before our amazed eyes.
The activities on offer immerse us in a natural world teeming with wildlife, beauty, and authenticity. It is like a waking dream.

Complete local experience
I spent several days with Urugano Safari exploring the Nkuringo area and Mgahinga National Park, and every day was exceptional—both for the stunning scenery and the wildlife encounters.
The organization is remarkably well-planned, with excellent coordination between guides and trackers, maximizing the chances of spotting animals in their natural habitat. It is a truly incredible experience.
With Urugano Safari, I also discovered the village of Nkuringo, with its secluded hillside paths, magnificent viewpoints, and opportunities to meet the locals. I even attended a service at a local church.
Of course, there were the extraordinary moments of the gorilla and golden monkey treks, as well as the climb up Mount Sabinyo, located on the border between Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
I also had the chance to meet members of the Batwa community and learn about their history, culture, and way of life. To me, it is essential not to limit a trip to this region to just gorilla viewing, but to take the time to engage with local life and history. This fosters a deeper understanding of the region and its culture.
That is precisely what I particularly appreciated about Urugano Safari: an experience that goes beyond wildlife, allowing you to truly discover the region and the people who live there.
An absolutely unforgettable human, cultural, and natural experience.
