Very amazing and responsible
We had a fantastic safari experience with Boost Safaris. Our guide, James, was extremely friendly, professional, and thoughtful throughout the trip. He always considered what would give us the best experience and made a real effort to help us spot as many animals as possible. We were incredibly lucky and saw almost everything we hoped for, including the Big Five, the Beautiful Five, and the Ugly Five!
The communication before and during the trip was also excellent — they responded very quickly online whenever we had questions. I compared several companies offering similar itineraries, and Boost Safaris was one of the most affordable options, while still providing great service and an amazing overall experience. Really great value for money and one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommend James and Boost Safaris!
A marvellous experience
We started looking for a Safari in Kenya via safaribookings.com for a group of five (couple with 3 grown-up kids) in January 2026, the Safari should take place in August.
After we entered our favoured dates, we were provided with several offers from different agencies via Whatsapp within one hour. We got in touch with three of those agencies, specified our needs and asked for prices.
Boost Safari's offer fitted the most in terms of tour dates, itinerary and price. They asked us to choose the category of accomodation: basic, mid-range or upscale, and let us know the prices. Everything was transparent and comprehensible.
We only had to tell them where we wanted to be picked up (in our case, a hotel in Nairobi, although airport pickup seems to be possible as well) and where we wanted to be dropped off after the safari. They then sent us a detailed written offer as a PDF via WhatsApp.
We deliberated for some days and finally decided to book with them. We had to pay 20% deposit in US dollars by international money transfer, which we arranged through our local bank. The transfer took almost a week and and involved fees both on our side and theirs, which we had to cover, but in the end everything worked out well. 60 days prior to the start of the Safari we paid the remaining 80% in the same way.
Having never done an international money transfer before, we were a little nervous about what would happen with the money (spoiler: it worked, and was worth every dollar).
Since we had applied for our Kenyan ETA only one day before our departure (it should really be done at least 72 hours before take-off) we contacted Boost Safari on the day of our departure. They even called the Kenyan immigration authorities on a Saturday and helped us resolve the issue.
We arrived in Nairobi as planned and spent two days at a hotel there. After arrival Boost Safari's back office contacted us courteously and confirmed the pickup for the following day.
On Monday morning, exactly at the scheduled time, we were met by a company representative and by our driver and guide, David, who gave us a very warm welcome and accompanied us on our seven-day/six-night safari.
The Safari itself was absolutely breathtaking and we were more than lucky with our guide. First we went to Amboseli national park, where we had a 3 hours game drive in the afternoon and a 12 hours drive the following day. We saw plenty of birds, elephants and hippos and even a cheetah there and were thoroughly informed about African flora, fauna and culture by our guide.
Then we spent a day and one night at Lake Naivasha, where we had a boat trip and had the chance to observe hippos, eagles, pelicans and fish. At Amboseli and Lake Naivasha we had mid-range accomodation, which were tidy and clean and served excellent food.
At our arrival at lake Naivasha David realized that the car had a technical issue (the 4WD went broke) and organized an exchange car, which was brought to our hotel the same night. The change of vehicle did not affect us or our itinerary at all; everything was handled smoothly and professionally.
The next day we drove to Maasai Mara, where we spent 3 nights. We had decided to stay in a budget tented camp outside the reserve next to an entrance. Accomodation was simple, but good and clean, the bed was very comfortable. Some vervet monkeys tried to get into the tent, but failed, thanks to the double zip.
The food was reasonable, and the staff were very charming. During one dinner, they even performed a traditional dance as a birthday surprise for one of the guests.
Maasai Mara was spectacular in August and with an incredible abundance of wildlife. We saw several lions, cheetahs, and a leopard eating its kill up on a tree. More than that there were literally thousands upon thousands of zebras, antelopes, buffalo, wildebeests and warthogs. On top we saw more elephants, giraffes, vultures and eagles. Some Marabous joined us for lunch, which we had under a tree in the middle of the reserve.
During a walk to the banks of the Mara River, accompanied by park rangers, we saw crocodiles and several families of hippos.
We decided not to wait at the Mara River for a possible wildebeest crossing, because we had already come across a group of six lions that had just killed a wildebeest. We spent more than a fascinating hour watching them have their breakfast.
The only one of the "Big Five" we did not get to see was a rhino. There are only a few of them in Maasai Mara and you have to get up early and spend a lot of time to find them.
All in all it was a great experience and we would recommend this tour and especially this operator without hesitation.

A tour operator who would do anything and everything they can to improve your safari experience
This will probably be a long review, but I hope it provides the best possible insight into Boost Safaris as a tour operator and gives any potential future customer a genuine idea of what they can expect if they choose Steve and his team.
The Team & Their Responsiveness
The most impressive part of the Boost team is how responsive they were, both before and throughout our safari. If you have any issues, you have multiple contacts who are quick to assist and are always available via WhatsApp or email. To put this into perspective, I joked with Steve that he messages me back quicker than my own family!
Being responsive is one thing, but providing great service and genuinely good advice is another. The Boost team could not have been better in this regard. They will move mountains and do everything they can to make your safari experience the best it possibly can be.
On our fourth day, I had a lot of issues with my eye. I didn't want to cause any problems, so initially I didn't even mention it to the tour operator. However, our driver, David, who was exceptionally knowledgeable and extremely kind, noticed that I was struggling to look at the animals and asked how he could help.
David and Steve liaised together, with Steve finding a local hospital and organising an appointment with a doctor. This was all done with clear communication and guidance. Fortunately, the hospital was on the way to our next stop, so we lost very little time. David was incredibly helpful in getting us there and communicating with the local people and hospital staff.
I am so grateful for their assistance, but this is just one example of how responsive and knowledgeable the team are. It really demonstrated why having a team on the ground in Kenya who know the country is invaluable while on safari. You have experts available to assist within minutes, whenever you need them.
The Safari Experience
The safari itself was everything we wanted it to be and more. We went primarily to see the animals, which we did in abundance, but we ended up enjoying learning about the culture and experiencing the beautiful landscapes just as much.
I think any prospective safari-goer should be aware that there is an element of luck involved when it comes to seeing wildlife. That said, almost all the operators we saw worked incredibly hard to get close to the animals and create the best possible viewing and photography experiences. Our guides also provided fascinating insights into the animals and were able to answer almost every question we had.
We witnessed some truly wild and incredible scenes during our trip, and we have so many memories that we will hold onto for a lifetime.
The local people were also incredibly kind and friendly. Everyone seemed interested in learning about tourists and wanted to present their country in the best possible way. One of the sweetest parts of our trip was seeing children in rural villages running to the road to wave at our jeep as we passed. This happened regularly and was a lovely reminder of how warmly we were welcomed.
We genuinely felt welcomed into the country and could not speak highly enough of how we were treated throughout our safari.
Reliability
Finally, a note on reliability. I think all safari-goers should be prepared for the bumpy roads when travelling to the parks and within them. The vehicles are thrown around quite a bit, and you will see cars breaking down. Regardless of how much you pay for your safari, this is simply a risk that comes with the experience.
However, this is exactly why having a responsive and reliable tour operator is so important.
Although other guides and locals will often assist if a vehicle breaks down, the value of having Steve and his team became very clear to us. They have vehicles and guides on standby, and the team are so calm and organised that they can quickly arrange alternatives and ensure your safari continues with minimal disruption.
The Overall Experience
Our safari was invaluable. The lodges were exceptional, and I am genuinely amazed that the itinerary we chose was considered a mid-range safari. The accommodation was so spectacular that I cannot imagine how it could have been much better.
The lodges had clean amenities, large buffets with plenty of choice, incredible views of the parks, and excellent locations either within or close to the parks. This meant we could maximise our time enjoying the wildlife.
We witnessed some incredible live events, largely thanks to the guides' knowledge of the parks and expert driving. Beyond this, the Boost team made us feel like family through the way they treated us and their constant desire to improve our experience.
Talking with Steve genuinely felt like spending time with a friend I had known for years.
Final Comments
I would thoroughly recommend the Boost team to anyone considering a safari. What sets them apart for me is their genuine willingness to assist with anything and their clear care for their clients at all times.
They are true experts in their field, with excellent knowledge, communication, reliability, and — most importantly — a genuine desire to make your safari the best experience it can possibly be.
