Vaccinations
Vaccinations are recommended. See the websites below for more detailed immunization advice.
Malaria Risk
Most of South Africa is free of malaria, but some wildlife areas, including Kruger National Park and neighboring parts of Greater Kruger, lie in a moderate-risk zone. The KwaZulu-Natal parks lie in a low-risk zone. The risk of transmission is highest during the rainy season, from around September to May. To avoid possible exposure totally, malaria-free safari destinations include Madikwe and Pilanesberg Game Reserves, as well as the parks and reserves in the Eastern Cape. See the websites below for more detailed advice.
