We had only a short visit but the landscape with the big lake in the middle is really nice. Also the animals are very easy to see. It is a park for only self-guiding with camping accomodations.

Never too busy, lots of associated activities to take part in on the da, and the feeling of having Giraffe, Myriad types of buck, warthogs and other small wildlife walking around so close to you that you could touch them is a unique and rewarding experience.

Hopefully there is still rhino's to be seen and beautiful landscape.
Lots of battlefield history tours around this area.

Varied game in a fairly small park, can include white rhino, eland & kudu.
This is a beautiful reserve with thorn veld and a large expanse of water. The north bank of the lake is also interesting with the Spioenkop mountain dominating the park.
The north bank certainly allows a better vibe as it is more remote and has less visitors.
Birding can be good with some bushveld specials. Summer can be exceptional with the variety of cuckoos a highlight.

This is a landscape photographers dream. One can head off to the nearby Drakensberg Mountains and take spectacular photographs and enjoy the vast scenic mountain range scenery of the are. The local culutral village near Phutijaba isvery informative in terms of the cultural lives of the early San People who had inhabitated the region.

Not the best for game viewing by rhino may be seen. It surrounds the Spionkop Dam and accommodation is/was old construction contractor housing. It is overlooked by the Spioenkop mountain (Spy hill/mountian) where the British suffered major casualties during the Anglo-Boer War of 1899-1902. This is well worth a visit and where the old trenches may still be seen were the bodies lay deep.
