Leisure Escapes Safaris Ltd Terms & Conditions
1. Payment
A deposit of 40% of the total safari cost is required to confirm your booking.
If your package includes local flights, a deposit of 50% of the total safari cost is required to confirm your booking.
The remaining balance must be paid in full before the safari commences and may be settled either as a lump sum or in agreed instalments. Full payment at the time of booking is also accepted.
Payments may be made securely by Visa, MasterCard, or American Express through our online payment gateway. A 4% merchant surcharge applies to all card payments.
Alternatively, payments may be made by bank/wire transfer. Any bank or intermediary transfer charges are the responsibility of the client.
Important: Leisure Escapes Safaris Ltd maintains bank accounts only in Kenya. We do not hold or operate bank accounts in any other country. Please verify all payment instructions directly with us before transferring funds.
2. Safari Cancellation Policy
Our cancellation policy reflects the commitments made with hotels, safari lodges, camps, domestic airlines, and other suppliers, many of whom impose non-refundable charges once reservations have been confirmed.
Unless otherwise stated, cancelled bookings are eligible for a credit valid for twelve (12) months from the original safari start date. Cash refunds are generally not available.
Cancellation charges (percentage of total safari cost):
• More than 90 days before departure: 20% administration fee.
• 61–90 days before departure: 40% cancellation charge; Peak Season: 60%.
• 31–60 days before departure: 40% cancellation charge; Peak Season: 80%.
• 16–30 days before departure: 80% cancellation charge; Peak Season: 100%.
• 15 days or less before departure, or failure to travel: 100% cancellation charge.
Peak Season: 1 July–31 October, 20 December–5 January, and Easter holiday period.
3. Safari Price
Safari prices include the services specifically listed in your itinerary, including safari vehicle, professional driver-guide, accommodation, meals as specified, and applicable park or reserve entry fees unless otherwise stated.
4. Safari Transport
Transport will be provided using 4x4 safari minivans, 4x4 safari Land Cruiser, or other suitable safari vehicles, depending on the itinerary and group size. Leisure Escapes Safaris Ltd reserves the right to use carefully selected subcontractors providing equivalent standards of service.
5. Accommodation
Accommodation is based on per person sharing a twin or a double or a triple room/tent unless otherwise specified. Single occupancy is available at an additional single supplement. Named hotels, lodges, and camps indicate the intended standard. Where necessary, accommodation of a similar standard may be substituted due to availability, and clients will be advised in advance whenever reasonably possible.
6. Seasonal Factors
Certain facilities and services may be unavailable during low season, maintenance periods, public holidays, or religious festivals. Such circumstances are beyond our control and do not constitute grounds for compensation.
7. Changes to Tours
Leisure Escapes Safaris Ltd reserves the right to amend itineraries, substitute services of equivalent standard, or cancel tours where operational, safety, weather, governmental, or other circumstances require. Where appropriate, any applicable refund or credit will be determined fairly. Prices are based on tariffs and operating costs applicable at the time of quotation and may be adjusted before final payment where permitted by law.
8. Wildlife
Safaris involve travel in natural environments inhabited by wild animals. Although every reasonable precaution is taken, encounters with wildlife involve inherent risks. Leisure Escapes Safaris Ltd, its employees, agents, and suppliers cannot guarantee against wildlife-related incidents. Many safari camps are unfenced, and wildlife may enter camp areas at any time.
9. Mandatory Travel Insurance
Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for every traveller and should be arranged at the time of booking. Insurance should include cancellation, curtailment, emergency medical expenses, evacuation, personal accident, baggage, and personal belongings. Clients are responsible for arranging and maintaining adequate cover and should provide emergency insurance contact details before travel.
10. Liability
Leisure Escapes Safaris Ltd acts as an agent for hotels, airlines, transport providers, and other independent suppliers where applicable. While reasonable care is exercised in selecting suppliers, the company shall not be liable for delays, injury, illness, death, loss, damage, additional expenses, itinerary changes, force majeure events, acts of terrorism, government actions, supplier negligence, or any other event beyond its reasonable control.
Baggage is carried entirely at the owner's risk. The company accepts no responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings. Liability for domestic air travel is governed by the applicable airline conditions and international air carriage conventions.
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of Kenya, and any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Kenyan courts unless otherwise agreed in writing.
11. Complaints
Any issue arising during the safari must be reported immediately to Leisure Escapes Safaris Ltd by email or WhatsApp to allow prompt investigation and resolution. If the matter is not resolved during travel, a written complaint should be submitted within thirty (30) days after completion of the safari. The company will investigate and provide a response within thirty (30) days of receiving the formal complaint.
12. Acceptance
Payment of a deposit or any amount towards a booking constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions by all travellers covered under the booking.
