Wildebeest and zebras in the Serengeti ecosystem are the main stay of “the greatest show on Earth.” They are part of the largest migratory movement of wild animals anywhere in the world, with over 2 million ungulates constantly moving in search of pastures and water. Between December and March, the herds gather on the short grass plains, which stretch through southern Serengeti (Ndutu area). During the calving season, between January and February more than 4 thousands calves are dropped.
