A great wildlife and birding destination. Accommodation and communications could be basic at places but the bush experience more than makes up for it.

A rough imperfect area, densely populated. The parks are still recovering but there is plenty of wildlife already. The rivers and wetlands are beautiful and full of birds. The people are fascinating and friendly. Feels truly wild and a perfect place to get into the bush.

Completely different from the rest of Namibia. Large rivers, wetlands and a lot of wildlife in beautiful parks as Mahangu, Susuwe, Bwabwata. A great destination for birding. You can also try to catch a "tier"fish

My trip to the Zambezi Region was during my first visit to Africa and my first safari. The history and geography of the strip make it such an interesting and diverse place. Having a great guide helped a lot and I would definitely take another trip to the area!

The Caprivi is very different from the rest of Namibia. It's marshes and great rivers full of hippos and crocodiles are surrounded by lush vegetation, which is home to a huge variety of birds too.

There is excellent wildlife viewing in the Caprivi, from Mhango in the west, all the way to access to the Chobe National Park in the east - there is plenty of parks, wildlife and amazing to budget accommodation to choose from.

The Zambezi Region was also very interesting. Lots of native villages and people and children walking along the roads. It was a busier area, more populated than others. We spent a bit of time on the Kavango and the Kwando River where we saw numerous bird species and some animal life. The game drive through Mahangu National Park was exciting as we saw our first lioness and a kill.

There is a lot of highway (beware of elephants on the road) to travel before you reach Katima Mulilo but camping next to the beautiful river is worth it.

This area is usually witnessed as a drive-through experience, as the road through the Zambezi Region splits it in half. But it is worth an extended layover, as one can have an old fashioned river safari experience. No crowds here!
