Zulu Nyala: Lush Bush, Habituated Wildlife, and Hilltop Views
Zulu Nyala Private Game Reserve is set in lush, green vegetation dominated by striking yellow fever trees. The reserve is very small, which makes it easy to get close to a variety of animals, including cheetah and rhino. All the wildlife is very habituated, allowing visitors to observe natural behaviors and interactions within herds of zebras and nyala. While lions are not present, the other four members of the Big Five can be seen.
Zulu Nyala Game Lodge is perched on a hilltop, offering sweeping views over the surrounding bush that stretches seemingly endlessly. Staying here gives a sense of immersion in the environment, with wildlife often visible from the lodge itself. Zulu Nyala also serves as an excellent base for exploring Zululand, with excursions available to a wide range of regional attractions including Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park.

accessible setting. However, more experienced visitors might find the experience somewhat tame and underwhelming.Zululand travel base
The neighbour of Phinda, Zulu Nyala, this small reserve in Zululand is centered upon an affordable lodge with a pretty hilltop setting. The surrounding sanctuary is a good place to photograph elephant, cheetah, rhino and buffalo, in part because it is so small that it would be difficult to go on a game drive and not trip over them all at some point. It’s not exactly a wilderness experience, and there are no lions present, while the few leopards are very skittish. However, it can be recommended as an affordable base to explore the likes of iSimangaliso, Hluhluwe-Imfolozi and Phinda on a series of well organised day excursions.
