Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park and Community Visit

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking. Carry sufficient drinking water, healthy snacks, and consider hiring a porter, as the duration of the trek is unpredictable.

After the briefing by the park rangers, you’ll be assigned a gorilla family group and begin your trek into the forest in search of these gentle giants. The trek can range from a few hours to a full day, depending on the location of the assigned gorilla family. A good level of physical fitness is recommended for this activity; however, for those who may need assistance, sedan chairs are available for hire. Once you locate the gorillas, spend up to an hour observing them, making for a perfect photo opportunity.

After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and a relaxing break.

In the afternoon, enjoy a guided community walk to Red Rocks, a local initiative for improving livelihoods through environmental conservation.
