Day 1

Your adventure begins with a morning drive from Moshi or Arusha to Materuni Village, nestled on the green slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. With a local guide, walk through coffee and banana plantations while discovering Chagga traditions and village life. Hike to the stunning Materuni Waterfalls and take a refreshing dip in its crystal-clear pool.

Afterwards, enjoy an authentic coffee experience—from bean to cup—as you learn the traditional Chagga coffee-making process and sip freshly brewed local coffee. Following a local lunch in the village, continue to Karatu for an overnight stay at a budget lodge or campsite.

After an early breakfast, you’ll drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater—often referred to as the “Garden of Eden” for its remarkable concentration of wildlife. The crater floor is teeming with life, including lions, elephants, hippos, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, and, with a bit of luck, the rare and endangered black rhino. A picnic lunch by the hippo pool offers a peaceful break amid nature. The day promises unforgettable wildlife encounters set against the dramatic backdrop of the crater’s sweeping landscapes. In the afternoon, you’ll continue to a campsite or budget lodge near Tarangire National Park, where you’ll spend the night.

A game drive along the Tarangire River offers excellent chances to spot lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and a rich variety of birdlife drawn to the river’s life-giving waters. After enjoying a picnic lunch within the park and one last look at the incredible wildlife, you’ll begin your return journey to Arusha or Moshi, where your unforgettable safari experience comes to an end.
