Your professional safari guide will collect you early from your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala to begin the extensive, scenic 8-10 hour drive toward Bwindi. Important: Same-day transfer from Entebbe International Airport (EBB) to Bwindi is only viable for flights landing early in the morning. All later arrivals (late morning, afternoon, or evening) require an essential overnight stay near the airport due to the extensive drive and safety protocols on the mountain roads. The journey includes a mid-morning stop at the Equator crossing for photos and a refreshment break. We'll pause for a delicious lunch in Mbarara before continuing through the stunning Kigezi Highlands. In the late afternoon, we arrive at your pre-booked lodge (e.g., Rushaga Gorilla Havens Lodge) for check-in, dinner, and an early night, ensuring you are well-rested for the strenuous gorilla trek tomorrow.

Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi

Finally, a life-time adventure is here! Early this morning, after a strengthening breakfast, and with your packed lunch, your guide will drive you to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Headquarters for the mandatory briefing on gorilla etiquette and safety guidelines. You will then begin the thrilling, guided trek into the dense, Bwindi forest. The trek duration can vary significantly—from 2 to 8 hours—depending on the gorilla family's location and movement. Upon locating these magnificent creatures, you are allowed one truly unforgettable hour to observe, photograph, and learn about them in their natural habitat before hiking back out. After the life-changing gorilla encounter, you will be presented with your Gorilla Trekking Certificate, commemorating your successful adventure. You will then return to your lodge for relaxation or an optional, enriching local community walk, such as the Batwa cultural experience.

Transfer Back to Entebbe International Airport

The final day begins with a hearty breakfast at your lodge. After checking out, we start the full-day, scenic return journey (approximately 8-10 hours) from the beautiful Bwindi towards Entebbe. We will stop for a comfortable lunch break en route. The drive continues in the afternoon, with your arrival timed for the late afternoon or early evening. You will be transferred directly to Entebbe International Airport (EBB) for your onward international flight or dropped off at your hotel in Entebbe if your flight is the next day. (Note that accommodation on this day can only be arranged at an extra cost). Crucially, please ensure your international flight is scheduled for a late evening departure to comfortably accommodate the full-day driving time.
