Kafunta Safaris

Journey to South Luangwa National Park

Check out from Chongwe House and journey eastward to the legendary South Luangwa National Park—Zambia’s crown jewel and the birthplace of the iconic walking safari, pioneered by the renowned Norman Carr.

Upon arrival at Mfuwe International Airport, you’ll be warmly welcomed by your camp guides and transferred to your lodge.
After settling into camp and enjoying a restful siesta, you’ll gather for a delightful afternoon high tea before heading out on your first South Luangwa safari.

A walking safari here is not just an activity—it’s a rite of passage. South Luangwa is home to rare and endemic species found nowhere else on Earth, including the Crawshay’s Zebra, Cookson’s Wildebeest, and the Thornicroft’s Giraffe. And with one of the highest densities of leopards in Africa, it’s no wonder this region is affectionately known as the Valley of the Leopard.
