Miriakamba Hut (2541m) Saddle Hut (3570m)

After breakfast, continue your ascent through a mix of lush montane forest and open moorland. The trail gradually becomes steeper as you climb Elephant Ridge, a dramatic feature that rewards you with breathtaking views of the surrounding plains, deep valleys, and, on clear days, the snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro.

By midday, you’ll reach Saddle Hut, located at the base of Mount Meru’s striking summit ridge. Here, you’ll have time to rest and acclimatize before the final summit push.

For those with extra energy, an optional afternoon hike to Little Meru (3,820m / 12,533ft) is available — a short but rewarding trek that helps with acclimatization and offers spectacular sunset views over the Maasai Steppe and Arusha National Park.

As evening falls, enjoy a warm meal, prepare your gear for the early-morning summit climb, and get a good night’s rest in anticipation of the adventure ahead.

Day 3

Saddle Hut to Socialist Peak (4566m) to Momella Gate (1500m)

Saddle Hut to Socialist Peak (4566m) to Momella Gate (1500m)

Today marks the most challenging and rewarding day of the Mount Meru climb. The summit attempt begins early, around 1:00–2:00 AM, after a light meal. Equipped with headlamps, you’ll ascend the rocky trail toward the summit ridge.

The path leads past Rhino Point (3,800m) and Cobra Point (4,350m) — sections that demand balance, determination, and careful footing. As the horizon brightens, you’ll reach Socialist Peak (4,566m), the highest point on Mount Meru.

From the summit, enjoy a magnificent sunrise over Mount Kilimanjaro, the vast Meru Crater, and sweeping views of the Maasai plains below — a truly unforgettable sight.

After spending time at the peak, begin your descent back to Saddle Hut for a well-earned meal and short rest. Continue down through the forested slopes to Momella Gate (1,500m), where the trek concludes. You will then meet your driver and be transferred to Arusha town or Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO).
