This is one of the best times for wildlife photography — cheetahs on the prowl, vultures circling overhead, and newborn calves finding their footing.

The crater’s floor spans 260 square kilometers and harbors nearly every species found in East Africa, including elephants, lions, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, and the elusive black rhino.

As you drive across the open grasslands, you’ll witness a living tapestry of wildlife — lions lazing in the morning sun, hippos wallowing in the ponds, and flamingos painting the soda lake pink. The crater’s unique ecosystem makes it one of the few places where you can see the “Big Five” in a single day.
