Your Kilimanjaro adventure begins at Lemosho Gate, where you register with park authorities and meet your guides and porters. After a short briefing and gear check, you start hiking through dense rainforest, enjoying the lush vegetation, giant trees, and birdlife along the trail.
The hike is moderately challenging, with some steep sections, but the path is well-marked and shaded. Along the way, take photos and short breaks to enjoy the scenery. You’ll reach Mti Mkubwa (“Big Tree”) Camp in the afternoon, a peaceful spot surrounded by giant rainforest trees. Here, your tents will be set up, and a warm meal prepared by your cook awaits. Overnight at Mti Mkubwa helps your body acclimatize for the climb ahead.

After breakfast at Mti Mkubwa Camp, you continue your ascent through dense rainforest, gradually leaving the trees behind as you climb into heath and moorland. The trail passes bamboo groves, wildflowers, and open slopes, offering your first views of Kilimanjaro’s higher-altitude landscapes.
Midway, enjoy a short break for snacks and photos, taking in the scenic vistas. The hike continues onto the Shira Plateau, a vast area of volcanic rock, lava formations, and unique high-altitude flora. You’ll reach Shira One Camp in the afternoon, a peaceful campsite ideal for rest and acclimatization.

After breakfast at Shira One Camp, you continue your hike across the stunning Shira Plateau, a high-altitude area of volcanic rock, lava formations, and unique alpine flora. The trail is relatively gentle, offering panoramic views of Kilimanjaro’s southern glaciers and surrounding plains.
Along the way, your guides monitor your pace for acclimatization. Midway, stop for snacks and photos, enjoying the peaceful, remote landscape. You’ll reach Shira Two Camp in the afternoon, a quiet campsite ideal for resting and preparing for the next day’s higher-altitude trek.

After breakfast at Shira Two Camp, you trek across alpine desert terrain toward Lava Tower (4,630m), an important acclimatization point. The climb is moderately challenging but rewarding, with breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro’s glaciers, ridges, and plains.
After a rest and photos at Lava Tower, you descend to Baranco Camp (3,950m), located at the base of the famous Baranco Wall. The camp is sheltered and scenic, perfect for rest and preparation for the next day’s climb.

After breakfast at Baranco Camp, you descend from the famous Baranco Wall and trek through the scenic Karanga Valley, a high-altitude area with dramatic rock formations and unique alpine vegetation. The hike is shorter and moderate, allowing your body to acclimatize while enjoying the beautiful surroundings.
You’ll arrive at Karanga Camp (4,100m) in the afternoon, a peaceful spot to rest and prepare for the next day’s ascent toward Barafu Base Camp.

Upon arrival at Barafu Base Camp, your tents and a warm meal await. Spend the afternoon resting, hydrating, and preparing gear, as this camp is essential for acclimatization before the midnight push to Uhuru Peak.

The ultimate day begins with a midnight start from Barafu Base Camp, hiking slowly and steadily through the cold, dark alpine desert. The goal is Uhuru Peak (5,895m), Africa’s highest point. At the summit, enjoy breathtaking sunrise views of glaciers, valleys, and surrounding plains, a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
After photos and a short rest, you descend through alpine desert, moorland, and rainforest to Mweka Camp (3,100m). Along the way, witness changing ecosystems and reflect on your incredible achievement. At Mweka, relax with a warm meal and rest, celebrating your successful summit.

On your final day, you descend through lush rainforest from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate. The trail is downhill and can be muddy or slippery, so trekking poles and sturdy boots are recommended. Along the way, enjoy the vibrant flora, birdlife, and occasional monkeys.
At Mweka Gate, you’ll complete your descent registration and receive your Kilimanjaro summit certificate, a lasting memento of your achievement. From the gate, you’ll be transferred to Moshi Town for a warm shower, celebratory meal, and well-earned rest.
