4-Day Mount Meru Climbing Experience

Arusha to momela gate

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel in Arusha and transferred to Momella Gate for registration and briefing. Accompanied by an armed ranger, you begin your trek through open grassland and forest where giraffes, buffaloes, warthogs, and monkeys are often seen. The trail gradually ascends through montane forest toward Miriakamba Hut. Upon arrival, enjoy dinner and overnight at the hut.

Miriakamba Hut – Saddle Hut

Following breakfast, the trail climbs steadily through dense forest and giant heather vegetation. As you gain altitude, the landscape opens and offers beautiful views of Meru Crater and Ash Cone. You will reach Saddle Hut around midday, enjoy lunch, and later have the option of an acclimatization hike to Little Meru for spectacular sunset views. Dinner and overnight at Saddle Hut.

Saddle Hut – Summit (Socialist Peak) – Miriakamba Hut

An early morning start around midnight begins your summit attempt. The steep and narrow ridge leads you past Rhino Point and Cobra Point before reaching Socialist Peak at sunrise. From the summit, enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding plains. After photos and celebration, descend back to Saddle Hut for a short rest and continue down to Miriakamba Hut for dinner and overnight.

Miriakamba Hut – Momella Gate – Arusha

After breakfast, descend through the forest back to Momella Gate. Upon completion of the climb, you will receive your summit certificate. Transfer back to Arusha where your Mount Meru adventure concludes.
