After breakfast at your hotel in Kigali, meet your safari guide for a warm welcome and trip briefing. Begin your scenic drive north toward Uganda, passing through the rolling hills and lush countryside that define Rwanda’s beautiful landscape. Cross into Uganda via the Katuna border, where you’ll complete immigration formalities before continuing your journey toward Kibale Forest National Park. Along the way, enjoy a stop for a delicious lunch in Mbarara, surrounded by picturesque views of the highlands and crater lakes. As you approach Kibale, the scenery transforms into dense tropical forest home to chimpanzees and other primates. Arrive at your lodge in the evening, check in, and unwind after your day’s journey. After an early breakfast, head to Kibale Forest National Park headquarters for a briefing before embarking on an exciting chimpanzee trekking adventure. Led by experienced rangers, venture deep into the lush rainforest, listening for the distinctive calls of chimp troops echoing through the canopy. Once you locate them, spend an unforgettable hour observing their playful behavior, grooming rituals, and fascinating social interactions. After the trek, begin your scenic drive south toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Enjoy the changing landscapes as you pass tea plantations, crater lakes, and rural villages. Arrive at your Bwindi lodge in the evening, check in, and relax amid the cool forest air. After an early breakfast, head to the Bwindi National Park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking etiquette and safety. With your guide and ranger, venture into the mist-covered forest to track a mountain gorilla family. The trek can take several hours depending on their movement, but the reward is a once-in-a-lifetime encounter. Spend a magical hour observing the gorillas as they feed, play, and interact in their natural habitat an unforgettable wildlife experience. After the trek, begin your journey to Rwanda. Drive through the scenic landscapes of southwestern Uganda, passing local villages and terraced hillsides. Cross the Cyanika border into Rwanda and continue to Musanze, the gateway to Volcanoes National Park. Arrive in the evening, check into your lodge, and unwind as you enjoy views of the Virunga volcanoes, preparing for the golden monkey trek the following morning.

After an early breakfast, head to Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a briefing on golden monkey trekking. These playful and endangered primates inhabit the bamboo forests at the base of the Virunga Volcanoes. Accompanied by your guide, hike through the lush bamboo zones, enjoying the lively chatter and swift movements of the golden monkeys as they leap from branch to branch. Spend an hour observing their fascinating behavior and taking photos of their striking golden-orange fur. After the trek, descend from the forest and meet your driver for the return journey to Kigali. Enjoy a scenic drive through Rwanda’s beautiful countryside, with a lunch stop en route at a local restaurant or café. Continue your drive, arriving in Kigali in the late afternoon.
