Enjoy scenic views of Mount Kenya and the changing landscapes as you descend into the semi-arid Samburu region. Arrive at your tented camp in time for lunch and a short rest. In the afternoon, head out for your first game drive in Samburu National Reserve, renowned for its unique wildlife species known as the “Samburu Special Five”: Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx. Samburu National Reserve

Samburu National Reserve

You'll rise early for a sunrise game drive, when animals are most active and the lighting is perfect for photography. This early outing increases your chances of spotting elusive predators on the hunt, herds of elephants crossing the river, and a variety of birdlife. After a hearty breakfast back at camp, you may choose to relax during the hot midday hours — perhaps take a dip in the pool or enjoy the riverside views from your tent. In the late afternoon, you’ll head out again for a second game drive, exploring new areas of the reserve and searching for more wildlife, guided by your expert driver-guide who knows the terrain intimately. Samburu’s contrasting landscapes — from dry bush to riverine forest — offer rich opportunities to spot both iconic and unusual species. You'll return to the camp for a delicious dinner and a peaceful final night under the Samburu stars.
