Dar es Salaam - Nyerere National Park (Selous) & Boat Safari

Your adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel or airport in Dar es Salaam. Enjoy a scenic 4–5-hour drive through Tanzania’s countryside to Nyerere National Park. On arrival, check in at your mid-range lodge near the Rufiji River and have lunch.

After lunch, you can take a short rest or explore the lodge grounds, such as walking around, swimming in the pool, or watching black-and-white colobus monkeys and blue monkeys play around the lodge compounds.

In the afternoon, around 16:00, you will set out on a sunset boat safari along the Rufiji River, a magical experience where you’ll spot hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and vibrant birdlife as the sky turns golden.

The calm flow of the river, the call of birds and the sight of animals coming to drink create a picture-perfect moment of Africa’s wild beauty.

Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay surrounded by the peaceful sounds of nature.

Full-Day Game Drive - Return to Dar es Salaam

After an early breakfast at the restaurant, around 05:30, you will board the safari vehicle and head out for a full-day game drive in Nyerere National Park, Tanzania’s largest wildlife reserve.

Spot lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, hippos and over 400 bird species as you explore riverine forests, open plains and acacia woodlands. Your guide shares insights on wildlife behavior and the park’s rich ecosystem, making each sighting memorable.

Around midday, enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic spot overlooking the Rufiji River or the open savannah. Relax, photograph the scenery and take in the untamed beauty of the park. Continue the afternoon drive, exploring quieter areas for more wildlife encounters.

Late afternoon, begin the drive back to Dar es Salaam, stopping briefly for refreshments or photos of the countryside
