After the thrill of gorilla trekking, today offers a change of pace with unparalleled scenery. We check out and take a short, picturesque drive to the breathtaking Lake Bunyonyi, a vast, winding lake dotted with 29 islands. Here, we embark on a serene guided canoe or boat trip across its placid, mirror-like waters. Learn about the local culture and the fascinating history of the islands from your guide. The panoramic views of the terraced hillsides are simply spectacular, offering countless photo opportunities. We enjoy a delicious lunch overlooking the lake before beginning our journey back to Rwanda. We cross the border and drive towards Musanze, the bustling town at the foothills of the Virunga Mountains. You'll check into your comfortable lodge, with the dramatic silhouettes of the volcanoes providing a stunning backdrop for your final evening.

Tracking Golden Monkeys & Departure

On our final day, we have another incredible primate encounter awaiting us. After an early breakfast, we head to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for our second briefing. Today's quest is to find the charismatic and endangered golden monkeys. The trek through the park's vibrant bamboo forest is generally less strenuous, offering a different but equally enchanting atmosphere. Watching these agile, playful primates with their striking golden-orange coats leap through the bamboo canopy is a joyful and photogenic experience. After our hour with the monkeys, we return to the lodge to freshen up and have lunch. We then begin the comfortable and scenic drive back to Kigali. Depending on your departure schedule, you may have time for some last-minute souvenir shopping before we transfer you to the airport for your departure, concluding a truly epic African adventure.
