On arrival at Victoria Falls Airport, you’ll complete departure formalities before boarding your short 45-minute charter flight to Hwange National Park. At Umtishibi Airstrip or Hwange Main Airport, a representative from The Hide Safari Lodge will meet you for your transfer into camp, with game viewing opportunities along the way. The journey takes around 40 minutes from Umtishibi or 1 hour and 30 minutes from Hwange Main.
The Hide is a family-owned and operated camp, established in 1992 by the Prestons and set on a private concession on the eastern boundary of Hwange. Its waterhole, just metres from camp, attracts a constant stream of wildlife, offering superb viewing right from your veranda.

Day 2-3
Exploring Hwange
Exploring Hwange
Spend your days exploring Hwange National Park on game drives or guided walks with expert naturalists, uncovering its diverse habitats and abundant wildlife. Look out for vast herds of elephant and buffalo, as well as lion, leopard and wild dog. Sundowners and hide photography sessions are a highlight, while evenings are spent sharing stories and laughter around the campfire under a star-filled sky.

Today you’ll catch your 1-hour 30-minute flight to Lake Kariba, where a Changa representative will meet you and transfer you to the beautiful Changa Safari Camp. Lapped by the waters of the lake and shaded by mopane woodland, this secluded camp is a haven of tranquillity designed to blend effortlessly with its surroundings. Built from natural materials, with furniture crafted from Zimbabwe’s finest teak and a bar fashioned from the hull of an old boat, Changa exudes character and charm. Enjoy lunch overlooking the glittering lake, then spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool, heading out on a game drive, or trying your luck fishing for the legendary tiger fish.

A typical day at Changa begins early to make the most of the best wildlife-viewing hours. You’ll be gently awoken by the traditional “knock knock” at your door, along with your preferred tea or coffee. Afterward, set out on your morning activity — perhaps a game drive, guided walk, or a fishing safari on the lake’s calm waters. The area teems with wildlife, from large mammals to over 350 species of birds.
As the sun rises higher, return to camp for a hearty breakfast and some time to unwind. After lunch, take a short boat trip across the lake to the breathtaking Sanyati Gorge, a dramatic landscape of steep cliffs and quiet waters. Drift peacefully along for up to 10 kilometres, spotting colourful birdlife, the occasional antelope, and perhaps trying your hand at fishing once more before returning to camp in the late afternoon.

After an early breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the airstrip for your 30-minute flight to Mana Pools, where the friendly John’s Camp team will be waiting to welcome you. The name Mana means “four” in the local Shona language, a reference to the four large, permanent pools that lie inland from the Zambezi River. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of Africa’s most beautiful and remote wilderness areas, home to a remarkable diversity of wildlife, including elephant, lion, wild dog, and more than 350 bird species.

Day 8-9

Life at John’s Camp follows the gentle rhythm of the bush. You’ll be woken just before sunrise with a steaming cup of tea or coffee and a light bite to eat before setting out on your morning activity — a guided walk or game drive through the wild landscapes of Mana Pools. Return to camp for a hearty brunch and a well-earned rest during the midday heat.
Afternoon tea is served around 3.30pm before you head out again for another round of wildlife viewing as the day cools. You may also choose to try your hand at fishing from the banks of the Zambezi River. Sundowners can be enjoyed out in the field or back at camp, where a warm bucket shower awaits your return. As evening falls, gather around the campfire to share stories from the day and savour a delicious three-course dinner beneath a canopy of stars.
