Camping along Mupamadzi River

After an early breakfast, set off north for the start of your walking mobile safari — often described as the ultimate wilderness experience in South Luangwa. Your journey covers around 90 kilometres along a bush track through remote, untouched parts of the park, offering a real sense of adventure.

You’ll arrive at the Mupamadzi River around midday, where your camp will already be set up in a beautiful wild location. Each walk-in tent is comfortably equipped, with a bucket shower beneath the trees and a long-drop loo complete with its own wooden throne. After lunch, take a short siesta before afternoon tea, then head out on a gentle walk near camp to stretch your legs and soak up the atmosphere. Return to camp for sundowners and dinner beneath a sky filled with stars — the perfect end to your first day in the wild.

Animal Tracking

Rise with the sun for your morning walk, setting out into one of the most remote and unspoiled corners of South Luangwa. The terrain and habitats are wonderfully varied, and the wildlife here remains shy and untamed, offering a rare glimpse of the bush at its most natural. From following the tracks of buffalo or lion to studying tiny insects and bird nests, every step reveals something new about this remarkable ecosystem.

While you explore, the mobile camp is packed up and moved to your next location. By the time you arrive at Camp 2 in the late morning, a welcoming lunch will be waiting. Afterwards, enjoy a restful siesta before heading out again for an afternoon walk as the light softens and the bush comes alive once more. Day 4 will be spent doing more animal tracking, exploring the surrounding area with your qualified armed guides.
