Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
Discover the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife destinations. Created by a massive volcanic eruption millions of years ago, this collapsed caldera is the world’s largest unbroken volcanic crater, measuring about 20 kilometers in diameter. Today, it serves as a natural sanctuary supporting over 25,000 animals, including the Big Five — lions, elephants, leopards, buffaloes, and the rare black rhino — making it one of the most concentrated wildlife habitats on the continent.
As you descend onto the crater floor, you’ll be captivated by its varied landscapes: open grassy plains teeming with grazing herbivores, scattered acacia forests, tranquil swamps, and the shimmering Lake Magadi, often dotted with flocks of flamingos.
