Gorilla Trekking Experience
This day delivers the heart of your Ugandan safari. After an early breakfast, head to the ranger post for registration and a detailed briefing. In small groups, you trek into the dense rainforest guided by trackers who follow the clues of broken bamboo and recent nests. The terrain is steep and sometimes slippery, but the reward is profound. When you finally meet a family of mountain gorillas, the forest seems to hold its breath. For one unforgettable hour, you watch them feed, groom, and interact – a giant silverback keeping watch while playful juveniles tumble nearby. This rare face-to-face moment is emotional and worth every step. After returning from the forest, have lunch and then travel about two hours to Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda’s most picturesque lake. Its 29 small islands scattered among terraced hills create a postcard scene of serenity. Check in at your lakeside lodge and relax as the sun sets behind the misty hills.
