Shira camp

Start your Kilimanjaro climb with pick-up from your accommodation in Moshi or Arusha, or a nearby agreed location, and drive to Machame Gate. Upon arrival, complete park registration, obtain permits, and receive a safety and equipment briefing from your experienced guides.
Begin trekking through the lush montane rainforest at a slow “pole pole” pace to aid acclimatization. Along the way, spot black-and-white colobus monkeys, tropical birds, and unique flora, while your guides share insights about the environment and wildlife. Stop for a packed lunch amid the serene forest surroundings.
As the trail ascends, the forest thins, revealing panoramic views of the Shira Plateau and surrounding valleys. Arrive at Machame Camp (2,835m), where your tents, hot drinks, and meals are prepared by your crew. After a health check, enjoy a nutritious dinner, rest, and acclimatize in preparation for the next stage of your climb. After the adventure, you will be dropped off at your accommodation.

Shira peak and shira cathedral

Wake up early to the golden sunrise over Mount Meru and enjoy a warm breakfast before beginning your ascent toward Shira Peak, one of Kilimanjaro’s ancient volcanic summits. The trail climbs steadily through open moorland and rocky terrain, offering wide, panoramic views of the Shira Plateau and the snow-capped Kibo Peak in the distance.

As you approach the summit, your guide will share fascinating stories about the formation of Kilimanjaro’s three peaks—Shira, Mawenzi, and Kibo—and explain how ancient volcanic activity shaped this magnificent landscape. Reaching Shira Peak (3,962m) is a rewarding and memorable moment, with breathtaking 360° views of the African plains and nearby Mount Meru—a perfect spot for photos and peaceful reflection.

After your descent, you will be transferred back comfortably with drop-off at your accommodation in either Arusha or Moshi, completing a truly enriching day on Kilimanjaro.
