Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, enjoy a full-day game drive in the iconic Masai Mara National Reserve, with a picnic lunch served in the heart of the wilderness. Renowned for its black-maned lions and exceptional concentration of wildlife, the Mara is one of the best places in Africa to encounter the legendary Big Five in a single day. Cheetahs here are famously relaxed, often seeking shade beneath safari vehicles and occasionally climbing onto the roofs for a better vantage point as they scan for prey. For bird lovers, the Masai Mara is equally rewarding, boasting nearly 500 recorded bird species. Highlights include 16 species of eagles, numerous hawks and falcons, six species of vultures, eight species of storks, four species of bustards including the Kori bustard, the world’s heaviest flying bird and nine species of colorful sunbirds. As the day draws to a close, return to your selected campsite or lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

As we exit the reserve, we continue our journey toward the Kenya–Tanzania border. Serengeti National Park

Serengeti National Park

As you crest the hillside, the vast Serengeti unfolds before you, stretching endlessly to the horizon. Named from the Kiswahili word meaning “endless plains,” this iconic national park spans approximately 18,000 square kilometers and supports one of the greatest concentrations of wildlife on Earth. The Serengeti is home to over two million large mammals, including vast herds of wildebeest, plains zebras, and Thomson’s gazelles. These migrating herds attract powerful predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas, creating one of nature’s most dramatic ecosystems. The plains are also inhabited by diverse smaller wildlife, including rock hyraxes, bat-eared foxes, mongooses, honey badgers, jackals, monkeys, baboons, and African hares. Nearly 500 bird species have been recorded, making it a paradise for bird enthusiasts. Enjoy an afternoon game drive en route to your campsite. Dinner and overnight accommodation will be at a public campsite or private tented camp or lodge.

Rise early for a pre-breakfast game drive, when the savannah comes alive with activity and the soft light of dawn paints the landscape in warm hues. Watching the sun rise over the African plains is an unforgettable experience, offering some of the most breathtaking scenery on the continent. After the game drive, return to camp for brunch. Later in the afternoon, depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, often referred to as the eighth natural wonder of the world. Enclosed by dramatic crater walls rising over 2,000 feet, the Ngorongoro Crater spans approximately 102 square miles and forms a natural sanctuary for wildlife. Often described as a modern-day Noah’s Ark, it is home to nearly every species indigenous to East Africa, including the rare black rhino.
