After the drive, return to camp for a hearty brunch before heading to the Ngorongoro Crater, often called the 8th Wonder of the Natural World. Spanning 102 square miles with 2,000-foot-high walls, the crater hosts nearly every species native to East Africa, including the rare black rhino. Its diverse habitats—riverine areas, swamps, a soda lake teeming with flamingos, forests, and open plains—support elephants, lions, zebras, and countless other animals. The giant elephants with massive tusks are a highlight. Arrive in Ngorongoro in time for a scenic sundowner.
