Visit a local Maasai community to experience their traditions and way of life, then continue to the scenic Ngare Sero waterfalls for a refreshing walk amid lush canyon walls. As the day ends, drive to your lodge for dinner and relax, preparing for the thrilling midnight ascent of Ol Doinyo Lengai.

Day 2
Midnight Lengai Trek – Descent – Transfer to Lake Eyasi

Begin your ascent of Ol Doinyo Lengai around midnight. Trek under the stars with your guide as you climb the steep slopes of the only active carbonatite volcano in the world. Reach the summit at sunrise to witness breathtaking views of Lake Natron, Mt. Gelai, and the endless Rift Valley plains. After taking in the crater scenery, descend back to the base and return to camp for breakfast and rest.
After recovery, drive toward Lake Eyasi, passing scenic Rift Valley landscapes along the way. Arrive in the evening for a relaxing dinner.

At sunrise, join the Hadzabe bushmen for an authentic cultural encounter deep in the wilderness of Lake Eyasi. Walk alongside them as they demonstrate their traditional hunting skills, gathering techniques, and bushcraft knowledge passed down through generations. Observe their unique way of life, storytelling, and survival methods. Later, visit the talented Datoga blacksmiths, who forge tools, arrows, and beautiful jewelry using age-old metalworking traditions. Continue to the shores of Lake Eyasi, where you can witness or join local fishing activities and learn how the communities depend on this remote lake for their daily livelihood. This immersive cultural day offers a rare opportunity to connect with Tanzania’s most ancient tribes.
