Day 1

The Soweto tour starts at FNB Stadium with a historical introduction. We then travel through Soweto, passing Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital and Diepkloof. Our first stop is Motsoaledi informal settlement for a guided walk to a community centre, to interact with residents.

The tour continues through Orlando West to see Regina Mundi Church and Freedom Square externally, followed by a guided Hector Pieterson Museum visit. We then travel Vilakazi Street, passing monuments and the former homes of Nelson and Winnie Mandela and Archbishop Tutu. Schedule permitting, you may enter Nelson Mandela House at your own expense.

The morning concludes at a restaurant near the Soweto Towers for a traditional 'shisa nyama' meal and craft market. Optional bungee jumping is available subject to time and additional cost.

After lunch, we return to Johannesburg for the Apartheid Museum. Your guide gives an overview before you explore independently until departure.
