Rise early for a morning game drive in Chobe, capturing sightings of lions, buffalo, and giraffes in the soft dawn light. After breakfast at Elephant Sands Lodge, depart for Gweta, a journey of approximately 100 km along the A3 road. The drive takes you through open savannah landscapes dotted with acacia trees and occasional wildlife sightings.
As you approach Gweta, the scenery becomes flatter and more expansive, signaling your proximity to the great salt pans. Gweta is a small, laid-back village often referred to as the gateway to the Makgadikgadi Pans.

Morning Visit to Makgadikgadi Pans – Meerkat Experience & Drive to Maun
Your day begins with an early morning departure to the vast and surreal Makgadikgadi Pans, one of the largest salt flats in the world. The cool morning air and soft golden light create the perfect atmosphere for exploring this unique lunar-like landscape.
A highlight of the morning is a guided meerkat experience.
You will then depart for Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta. The drive takes you through rural villages and changing landscapes, offering a glimpse of local life in Botswana.
Upon arrival in Maun, the afternoon is at leisure. You may choose to relax at your lodge, explore the town, visit local curio shops, or simply unwind by the pool after your morning adventure.
