Day 1

Arusha Town to Pink Horizon of Lake Manyara National Park

Arusha Town to Pink Horizon of Lake Manyara National Park

Your adventure begins with a morning hotel pickup in Arusha, followed by a short briefing before heading to Lake Manyara National Park. Nestled along the 600-meter-high Rift Valley escarpment, this compact park is defined by the shimmering alkaline Lake Manyara. Thousands of flamingos transform the shallow waters into a pink spectacle, while over 400 bird species thrive here. The park’s varied vegetation supports diverse wildlife: monkeys swing through the forest, giraffes and antelopes roam the grasslands, and elephants gather beneath acacia trees. With luck, you may spot the famous tree-climbing Manyara lions resting gracefully among branches. The combination of birdlife, landscapes, and animals makes Lake Manyara a captivating destination.

In the late afternoon, you will depart the park and travel to Karatu, a charming town near Manyara, where you will spend the night, preparing for the next stage of your safari journey through Tanzania’s Northern Circuit.

From Manyara to Wonders of Serengeti National park

After breakfast, your journey continues toward the fertile crater highlands, where the Iraqw people cultivate wheat, corn, and coffee. Passing the majestic Ngorongoro Crater, you will arrive around mid-morning at the vast Serengeti National Park, Tanzania’s largest and most iconic reserve. The Serengeti offers an incredible variety of habitats, from endless short-grass plains and sweeping savannahs to dense bush, swamps, lakes, and rugged mountains. Scattered across the landscape are dramatic rock formations known as kopjes, often serving as resting spots for predators. Depending on the season, you may witness the park’s legendary migration, with thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles moving in search of fresh grazing. In November and December’s short rains, herds travel south, while April to June’s longer rains drive them north again. This timeless cycle depends entirely on rainfall patterns, and herd locations shift yearly.
