Day 1

Depart Addis Ababa early in the morning and drive approximately 200 km south through the scenic Ethiopian highlands and Rift Valley landscapes (3.5–4 hours). Along the way, enjoy views of rural villages, farmland, and rolling hills as you approach the park.

Upon arrival at Abijatta-Shalla National Park, explore Lake Abijatta, famous for its large flocks of flamingos and abundant birdlife. Spot baboons, zebras, and other wildlife across the savanna, while taking advantage of excellent photography opportunities. Enjoy a picnic or lunch with beautiful lake views.

Afterward, visit Lake Shalla, a deep volcanic crater lake surrounded by cliffs. Take a short walk along the lakeshore, admire the dramatic scenery, and observe more wildlife. In the late afternoon, drive back to Addis Ababa, completing a memorable day filled with nature, wildlife, and Ethiopia’s breathtaking landscapes.
