Mombasa to Tsavo East

Your safari begins with an early morning pickup from your Mombasa hotel around 6 AM, followed by a scenic three to four‑hour drive to Tsavo East via Bachuma Gate. Once inside the park, you will enjoy a full‑day game drive across the Yatta Plateau, where herds of elephants, giraffes, zebras, and big cats roam freely. The vast landscapes and red‑soiled plains create dramatic backdrops for photography, while your guide shares fascinating insights into the park’s history and wildlife behavior. By afternoon, you will arrive at Ashnil Aruba Lodge for check‑in and a delicious lunch, then take time to relax by the pool or terrace overlooking the river. Later in the evening, you will head out again for a game drive to witness predators at dusk, before returning for dinner and overnight accommodation at the lodge.

You will then visit Mudanda Rock for panoramic views and photo opportunities, followed by a stop at the Tsavo Rhino Sanctuary to learn about conservation efforts. Around midday, you depart Tsavo East and enjoy a scenic drive toward Tsavo West, arriving in the afternoon. Day 3

Tsavo West to Mombasa

Tsavo West to Mombasa

Your final day begins with a sunrise game drive in Tsavo West, where the cool morning air often brings predators and grazers into the open. After breakfast, you will visit the famous Mzima Springs, a lush oasis fed by underground streams from Mount Kilimanjaro. Here, hippos wallow in crystal‑clear pools, crocodiles bask on the banks, and fish dart beneath the surface, all visible through underwater viewing chambers. The springs’ greenery and volcanic backdrop provide a striking contrast to the arid plains of Tsavo East.

As you depart Tsavo West, you will have a stop at the Shetani Lava Flow; a dramatic view of ancient black volcanic rock stretching across the landscape. Depending on timing, a short cultural stop at a local Maasai community can be arranged, where travelers experience traditional dances, beadwork, and stories of life alongside the parks.

The journey back to Mombasa is scenic, with memories of both the vast plains of Tsavo East and the rugged wilderness of Tsavo West.
