Upon arrival at Hosea Kutako International Airport, collect your rental vehicle and begin your self-drive adventure. The approximately 30-minute drive to Windhoek takes you through the scenic Khomas Highlands, where rolling hills, open savannah, and distant mountain ranges provide your first taste of Namibia's breathtaking landscapes.
After checking in to your accommodation, the rest of the day is at leisure. Relax after your international flight or explore Windhoek's cafés, craft markets, and historic landmarks at your own pace. This evening, enjoy dinner at one of the city's excellent restaurants before settling in for a restful night ahead of your Namibian adventure.

Kalahari Desert

After breakfast, depart Windhoek and make your way to Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch, a scenic drive of approximately 3½ hours. Leaving the city behind, the landscape gradually transforms into the striking red dunes of the Kalahari, dotted with camelthorn trees and golden grasslands. Along the way, keep an eye out for springbok, ostriches, and oryx roaming freely across the open plains.
Arrive at the lodge in time to settle in before joining your Cheetah Drive with Sundowner. This unforgettable experience offers the opportunity to learn about these magnificent predators while enjoying the spectacular colours of the Kalahari at sunset. Return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

After breakfast, depart the Kalahari and journey west to Desert Homestead Lodge, where you will spend the next two nights. The approximately 4½-hour drive takes you through ever-changing landscapes, from the red dunes of the Kalahari to the rugged mountains and vast gravel plains of the Namib Desert. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking scenery, dry riverbeds, and the chance to spot oryx, springbok, and ostriches.
Arrive at the lodge during the afternoon and take time to relax in the peaceful desert surroundings. Enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and dunes, unwind by the pool, or simply soak up the tranquillity before dinner. Desert Homestead Lodge provides the perfect base from which to explore the spectacular landscapes of Sossusvlei.

Guided Sossusvlei Excursion

Rise before dawn and depart for your guided Sossusvlei Excursion, arriving at the park as the first rays of sunlight illuminate the towering red dunes. Explore the iconic Dune 45, continue to the remarkable Deadvlei, where ancient camelthorn trees stand frozen in time against a backdrop of towering sand dunes, and visit Big Daddy, one of the highest dunes in the world. Before returning to the lodge, discover the impressive Sesriem Canyon, carved over millions of years by the Tsauchab River.
Return to Desert Homestead Lodge during the afternoon to relax and enjoy the peaceful desert surroundings before dinner and your second overnight stay.

Swakopmund

After breakfast, depart Desert Homestead Lodge and journey to the charming coastal town of Swakopmund, where you will spend the next two nights. The approximately 5-hour drive takes you through the spectacular Namib Desert, passing the small settlement of Solitaire before crossing the dramatic Gaub and Kuiseb Canyons. Continue across the vast gravel plains to Walvis Bay, where the desert meets the Atlantic Ocean, before following the scenic coastal road north to Swakopmund.
After checking in at Hansa Hotel, the remainder of the afternoon is at leisure. Explore the town's quaint streets, browse its shops and cafés, take a stroll along the beachfront, or simply relax before enjoying dinner at one of Swakopmund's many excellent restaurants.

Today is yours to enjoy at your own pace in Swakopmund. After breakfast, spend the day exploring this charming coastal town or simply relax and soak up its unique atmosphere. Stroll along the historic streets lined with German colonial architecture, browse local craft shops and cafés, visit the Swakopmund Museum or Crystal Gallery, or enjoy a walk on the beach.

After checking in and enjoying some time to relax, set out on an included afternoon Ephemeral River Drive. Explore the dry riverbeds that wind through Damaraland in search of the region's unique wildlife, including the famous desert-adapted elephants that occasionally roam these ancient waterways. Arrive at the lodge during the afternoon and take time to relax before enjoying the peaceful surroundings. If time permits, you may choose to visit the nearby Andersson Gate for your first glimpse of Etosha National Park or simply unwind by the pool before dinner. After an early breakfast, depart on your included half-day guided game drive into Etosha National Park. Accompanied by an experienced guide in an open safari vehicle, explore the southern section of the park in search of Namibia's incredible wildlife. Etosha is home to elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, numerous antelope species, and, with a little luck, elusive predators such as leopards and cheetahs. Your guide will share fascinating insights into the park's unique ecosystem and help you spot animals that are often difficult to find on your own.

After breakfast, depart Toshari Lodge and enjoy a memorable self-drive through Etosha National Park as you make your way to Onguma, located on the eastern boundary of the park. The drive offers an excellent opportunity to explore one of Africa's premier wildlife destinations at your own pace. Stop at the numerous waterholes along the way, where elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, rhinos, and a variety of antelope are often seen gathering to drink. The vast Etosha Pan provides a dramatic backdrop, creating exceptional wildlife viewing and photographic opportunities.
Exit the park through Von Lindequist Gate and continue the short drive to Onguma. After checking in, spend the remainder of the afternoon relaxing and enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the reserve before dinner and your overnight stay.

The approximately 2½-hour drive takes you through Namibia's central highlands, offering a final opportunity to admire the country's vast open landscapes before your journey home.
If your departure flight schedule allows, we highly recommend joining the lodge's optional Rhino Tracking on Foot experience before leaving. Accompanied by an experienced guide, you'll track white rhinos on foot, learning about their behaviour, conservation, and the surrounding ecosystem. This unforgettable encounter provides a unique and exciting way to conclude your Namibian adventure.
After returning to the lodge, continue to the airport, return your rental vehicle, and check in for your departure flight, taking home unforgettable memories of Namibia's spectacular landscapes and wildlife.
