In the morning, take an excursion to Yemrehana Kristos, Na’akuto La’ab, or Asheten Mariam Church, located in the scenic Lasta Mountains. In the afternoon, explore the second and third groups of Lalibela churches, including tunnels and trenches connecting the sites. Overnight at hotel.

Day 3
Drive Lalibela – Semera (Afar Region)

After breakfast, drive from Lalibela to Semera, the capital of the Afar Region. Enjoy spectacular views of the Lasta Mountains before descending into the Afar lowlands, where the landscape, altitude, and climate change dramatically. Arrive in Semera in the evening. Overnight at hotel.

Semera – Hamed Ela – Dallol & Lake Assale

Early morning drive from Semera to Hamed Ela, the base camp in the Danakil Depression. Visit Lake Assale, one of the lowest points in Africa, and explore the surreal landscapes of Dallol, famous for its colorful sulfur formations, salt pillars, and acidic pools. Overnight camping at Hamed Ela.

Day 5
Hamed Ela – Erta Ale Volcano (Semi-Participation)

Early morning visit to the rock-salt mining area and additional exploration of Dallol. Later, drive to Dodome village, then continue to the base of Erta Ale Volcano. In the late afternoon, trek to the crater to witness the dramatic lava lake at sunset. Spend the night near the crater, watching the glowing lava under the stars. Overnight open-air camping.

Early morning walk around the Erta Ale craters to view the active volcano at sunrise. After breakfast, drive to Lake Afdera, where you can swim and explore the surrounding salt pans. In the afternoon, return to Semera Airport for your flight back to Addis Ababa, marking the end of the tour.
