After breakfast, transfer from Moshi or Arusha to Marangu Gate for registration and trek briefing. Begin your ascent through dense rainforest, where towering trees, vibrant birdlife, and black-and-white colobus monkeys are often seen. The well-maintained trail climbs gradually, allowing for an easy start as you approach Mandara Hut, your first overnight stop surrounded by peaceful forest scenery.

Today the trail opens into heather and moorland, offering wide views of Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks. As vegetation thins, the landscape becomes increasingly alpine, providing a true sense of climbing Africa’s highest mountain. Arrive at Horombo Hut, a spacious and scenic base camp, where you’ll rest and enjoy panoramic views while preparing for further acclimatization.

This important acclimatization day allows your body to adapt to the altitude, greatly improving summit success. Take an optional hike toward Mawenzi Ridge, enjoying sweeping views of volcanic formations, alpine desert, and rugged peaks. Return to Horombo Hut for lunch and relaxation, with time to hydrate, rest, and mentally prepare for the days ahead.

Day 4

Trek across the vast alpine desert, leaving moorland behind as you approach the base of Kibo Peak. Pass the “Last Water Point” while enjoying expansive views of glaciers and volcanic terrain. Reach Kibo Hut in the afternoon, where you’ll rest, enjoy an early dinner, and prepare for the overnight summit ascent.

Day 5

Shortly after midnight, begin the final summit push, climbing steadily toward Gilman’s Point (5,681m) on the crater rim. From here, continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, and witness an unforgettable sunrise above the clouds. After photos and celebration, descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest before continuing to Horombo Hut, reflecting on this incredible achievement.

Descend through moorland and lush rainforest, enjoying the changing scenery and cooler air. Upon arrival at Marangu Gate, successful climbers receive their official Kilimanjaro summit certificates. Transfer back to Moshi or Arusha, marking the end of a truly unforgettable Mount Kilimanjaro experience.
