After a leisurely breakfast at your luxury camp with fresh fruits and panoramic views, the scenic 2-3 hour drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area passes rolling hills and Maasai villages, arriving at Lemala Ngorongoro—a secluded tented camp on the crater rim with elegant canvas suites and breathtaking vistas. Early morning descend into the crater for a six-hour tour with picnic lunch. This day begins with a descent from the crater rim (2,300 meters above sea level) down the steep, winding Seneto descent road into the 260-square-kilometer caldera as the morning mist lifts to reveal a breathtaking bowl-shaped landscape teeming with wildlife. Over the next six hours, guided by your Only One Safaris expert driver, explore the crater’s diverse ecosystems—grasslands, acacia woodlands, swamps, and Lake Magadi—spotting dense populations of the Big Five, including black rhinos, lions, and elephants, as well as wildebeest, zebras, and hippos wallowing in pools. Continue through Lerai Forest for leopard sightings and the open savannah for cheetah chases, with your guide sharing insights on the crater’s unique ecology and Maasai coexistence.

Lake Manyara Game Drive and onto Tarangire National Park

Lake Manyara Game Drive and onto Tarangire National Park

After breakfast we leave the conservation area and head onto the stunning Lake Manyara National Park for game drive en route to Tarangire National Park. The beauty of Northern Tanzania is that every wilderness area is very distinct. A game drive in Lake Manyara National Park is uniquely beautiful, blending diverse ecosystems into a compact, intimate safari experience unlike the vast open plains of the Serengeti. The park's groundwater forest, a lush canopy of mahogany and fig trees fed by underground springs, teems with troops of blue monkeys and baboons swinging through branches, while elephants emerge from the shade to drink at hidden streams.

The soda lake itself shimmers pink with thousands of flamingos and pelicans against the dramatic Great Rift Valley escarpment backdrop, and the famous tree-climbing lions lounge in acacia branches—a rare behavior that adds an enchanting, almost surreal element. This mosaic of habitats—forest, lake, and open woodland—creates stunning contrasts.

High Season July to March (The northern section gets crowded)

A full day of game drives in Tarangire National Park. Lemala Mpingo Ridge stands out for its unique elevated ridge setting, delivering sweeping panoramic views over the Tarangire River valley and baobab-studded plains, where cooling breezes and a sense of seclusion enhance the luxury experience before descending into the wildlife-rich areas below.
Starting at dawn with your Only One Safaris expert guide, the drive reveals massive elephant herds gathering along the riverbanks, tree-climbing lions lounging in acacias, and predators like leopards stalking prey amid ancient baobabs—a hallmark of Tarangire's dramatic, less-crowded landscapes.
Midday picnics under shaded kopjes allow intimate birdwatching and spotting giraffes or cheetahs, while afternoon loops through swamps and woodlands offer sightings of buffalo, zebras, and rare species like gerenuk, culminating in a sunset return with possible en-route wildlife, making this elevated-to-immersion journey distinctly serene and rewarding.
