Early in the morning, fly from Addis Ababa to Jimma. Upon arrival, meet your Essence Ethiopia Tours safari team and begin a scenic drive to Chebera Churchura National Park, passing through the lush green and hilly landscapes of Chida, located on the western side of the Central Omo–Gibe Basin, between the Dawro and Konta Zones in Southwest Ethiopia.
Chebera Churchura lies within the historic Kaffa Province, famously known as the birthplace of coffee. According to legend, coffee was first discovered here by a shepherd named Kaldi, before spreading to the rest of the world. En route or upon arrival, enjoy a visit to the vibrant local market, offering a glimpse into everyday life in this culturally rich region.

Excursion to Shoshuma & Halala Kela – Waterfall Experience

After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed day exploring the Shoshuma and Halala Kela areas of the park. This excursion offers excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and birdwatching while discovering different habitats, including highland forest, riverine forest, savanna, and bushland.

To date, the park is home to 37 large mammal species and over 237 bird species. Notable endemic birds include the White-winged Cliff Chat, Banded Barbet, Wattled Ibis, Black-headed Forest Oriole, and Thick-billed Raven.

Later in the day, visit a scenic waterfall where the natural pool below offers a refreshing swimming opportunity. In the evening, return to the lodge and enjoy a sundowner with panoramic views over the valley—an unforgettable safari moment.
