Day 1

At the agreed time and location of pick up in Kigali, you will meet your safari driver, who will give you a briefing of your 3-day Chimp trekking tour. At the end of the briefing, you will set off from Kigali and head southwards to Nyungwe National Park. After the approximately 6 hour drive, which is somewhat long but rewarded with stunning views of the beautiful natural landscape, you will arrive at the lodge and check in after the warm welcome by the lodge staff. You will later enjoy your dinner and afterwards relax.

Day 2
Chimp trekking, tea plantation tour and canopy walk
Chimp trekking, tea plantation tour and canopy walk
After an early morning breakfast at the lodge, you will drive to the park offices for a briefing and later proceed into the forest in search of the chimps. You will be led by a guide from the park who will take you through the trails of the thick Nyungwe forest to find the chimpanzees. It is an awesome moment to watch these playful primates up in the trees, for a full one hour, after which you will exit the forest and head back to meet your driver. You will thereafter visit the Gisakura tea plantation to participate in the harvesting of tea.
In the afternoon, you will go back to the forest for the canopy walk. This adventure offers great views of Nyungwe forest and a remarkable experience as you move from one point of the suspended walkway to the other. Thereafter, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3
Return to Kigali, Kigali Genocide Memorial and departure
Return to Kigali, Kigali Genocide Memorial and departure
Bid farewell to Nyungwe this morning and set off for Kigali. Upon arrival, you will visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial to learn about the 1994 Rwanda genocide. More than 250,000 victims of the horrific genocide are laid to rest here, and it is currently an honored place of remembrance for these and all other victims of the genocide. From here, you will have lunch and be dropped off at the airport for your departure flight.
