Day 1

Arrival in Kigali and transfer to hotel

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will head to the immigration and customs for clearance, and then our company representative, who will be your private safari driver for this tour, will warmly welcome you. From here, they will briefly share quick information on where you will be heading next. Feel free to ask for any assistance as they transfer you to your accommodation in Kigali. After checking into your booked hotel, our representative will give you a full briefing of your safari, including a reminder of the pick-up time the next day.

On this day, depending on your time of arrival, you can visit the Genocide memorial to save more time for the next day.

Day 2

Kigali city tour, road transfer to Volcanoes National Park, and Twin Lakes tour

You will wake up to a delicious breakfast at the hotel before checking out and then set off for Kigali city if you did not visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial site yesterday. At this site, thousands of bodies of the people who lost their lives during the 1994 genocide were buried. It is one of Rwanda’s major memorial sites, where you can get an insight into the terrible genocide.

From here, you will drive out of Kigali to Volcanoes National Park, arriving in time for lunch. Next will be a visit to the Twin Lakes, where you will go for a boat ride to one of their islands. The experience allows you to capture great views of the Virunga volcanoes, enjoy the serenity of the space, and enjoy the exclusivity from the rest of the world. On return to the lodge, you will have dinner and relax.

Day 3

The Gorilla trekking experience

The Gorilla trekking experience

Today is the day you will go for the long-awaited gorilla trekking adventure and it starts with an early hearty breakfast at the lodge, followed by the drive to Volcanoes National Park head offices. You will meet other trekkers, be allocated a gorilla family, and go through a briefing. Set off and search for the gorillas through the forested jungle, and when you come across them, you will spend an hour in their presence and exit the forest. Watching mountain gorillas is one of the most exciting moments you can ever have on safari.
After the trek, you will return to the lodge, have lunch and relax. Depending on how long the trek will last, you can opt to go for a cultural experience at the Gorilla guardians and later return to the lodge for dinner and the overnight.

Day 4

Golden monkey trekking and return to Kigali

Golden monkey trekking and return to Kigali

After breakfast at the lodge, you will drive to the park offices for a briefing about golden monkey trekking. Then, set off to the starting point, where you will walk through farmlands, guided to the location of the forest where golden monkeys often roam. When you come across these beautiful monkeys, you will have an hour with them before exiting the forest. The little primates are playful, and you’ll follow them as they jump from one tree branch to another.

You will later return to the lodge for lunch, load your bags into the vehicle, and set off for Kigali. Your driver-guide will drop you off at your hotel or the airport for your onward flight. Given the first activity on the morning of this day, you are advised to consider booking an evening flight from Kigali if you want to fly the same day.
