Your tour operator will pick you up from your hotel or Kigali International Airport, often including an optional short Kigali city tour to sites like the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre. Afterwards, you will embark on a scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via the Katuna or Cyanika border post. The journey takes approximately 4 to 6 hours, depending on the specific sector of Bwindi you are visiting (Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, or Nkuringo) and border crossing times. You will check into your pre-booked lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2

Gorilla Trekking and Departure

Gorilla Trekking and Departure

After an early breakfast, your guide will take you to the park headquarters for a briefing session by the park rangers (around 8:00 AM). You will be assigned to a gorilla family (groups are limited to 8 people) and begin the trek into the forest. Trekking can last anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours, depending on the gorillas' location. Once found, you get to spend one hour with the mountain gorillas. After the trek, you will return to your lodge for check-out and then be driven back to Kigali for your departure flight or hotel drop-off.
