Drive to Lake Shalla – Birdwatching & Scenic Views

After breakfast, drive south toward Abijatta-Shalla Lakes National Park, stopping in Ziway, a convenient town along the route. Continue to Lake Shalla, Ethiopia’s deepest lake, set within a dramatic volcanic crater.
Enjoy birdwatching along the lake’s shores, spotting species such as the rare white-winged cliff chat, and observe a variety of fish and other aquatic life. Take in the lake’s serene beauty, surrounded by picturesque landscapes.

Today, explore the hot springs and surrounding landscapes. These warm springs are popular among locals for their therapeutic properties, providing a glimpse into traditional life.
Visit Lake Abijatta, a shallow, saline lake known for attracting large flocks of flamingos and other water birds. Return to Lake Shalla to enjoy its scenic crater-lake vistas, volcanic formations, and rich birdlife.
