Nairobi to Maasai Mara – Journey into the African Wilderness

Your safari adventure begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi, driving through the scenic Great Rift Valley with a brief stop at a viewpoint to admire the dramatic escarpment and sweeping landscapes below. As you continue toward the Maasai Mara, the countryside opens into vast rolling plains dotted with Maasai homesteads and grazing cattle. Arrive at your lodge or tented camp in time for lunch and some relaxation before heading out for your first afternoon game drive. This introduction to the Mara offers thrilling wildlife encounters, including elephants, giraffes, zebras, and prides of lions lounging in the golden grasslands. As the sun sets, return to camp for dinner and an overnight stay surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness.

Full Day in Maasai Mara – Big Five encounters

After an early breakfast, spend the entire day exploring the Maasai Mara, one of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife reserves. The morning and afternoon game drives take you deep into the heart of the park, where the chances of spotting the Big Five are exceptionally high. Lions, cheetahs, and leopards are often seen hunting or resting in the shade, while vast herds of wildebeest and zebras roam the plains. A picnic lunch is enjoyed in the bush, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the wild surroundings. Between July and October, this day may include witnessing the dramatic wildebeest migration crossings at the Mara River. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and a restful overnight stay.

Maasai Mara to Lake Naivasha – From Savannah to Serenity

Following breakfast, depart the Maasai Mara and travel through the Rift Valley toward Lake Naivasha, arriving in time for lunch. The landscape changes noticeably from open savannah to lush greenery and freshwater shores. In the afternoon, enjoy a peaceful boat ride on Lake Naivasha, gliding past pods of hippos while fish eagles soar overhead. A guided walking safari on Crescent Island offers a unique opportunity to walk among giraffes, zebras, and antelopes in a predator-free environment. The day ends with relaxation at your lakeside lodge, enjoying the tranquil atmosphere and scenic sunset views.

Lake Naivasha to Lake Nakuru – Flamingos and Rhinos

After breakfast, drive to Lake Nakuru National Park, a compact yet wildlife-rich reserve set against a backdrop of wooded hills and open grasslands. Upon arrival, embark on a game drive around the alkaline lake, famous for its seasonal flamingos that often paint the shoreline pink. Lake Nakuru is also one of Kenya’s best places to see both black and white rhinos, as well as Rothschild’s giraffes, buffaloes, and a variety of bird species. Visit scenic viewpoints such as Baboon Cliff for panoramic views of the park before checking in to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
